Donkey Kong Country 2 Trivia Questions

1. Which action are you most likely to perform in Arctic Abyss?

From Quiz
"DKC2" - K. Rool's Keep...and Beyond

Answer: Swimming

Arctic Abyss is one of the final swimming levels found in the game, and in this one you need to take on the form of Enguarde the Swordfish, transforming early in the level to plow your way through the icy caverns below K. Rool's Keep. There is no shortage of enemies swimming through the frigid waters here, but with Enguarde's handy, piercing nose and the ability to charge across lengthy stretches you can make quick work of the level.

2. Gloomy Gulch primarily features which type of setting?

From Quiz "DKC2" - Gloomy Gulch

Answer: Forest

While a gulch would seem more arid, Gloomy Gulch is actually a haunted forest; three of its five levels take place in the woods and one brings the Kongs to a haunted building. As with the previous areas of the game, levels are constructed between large pitfalls, forcing Diddy and Dixie to cross them by whatever means necessary, whether that means using the local environment to their advantage or transforming into other creatures. Gloomy Gulch comes after Krazy Kremland on the map, and is the fifth stage of the game.

3. Appearing after Krem Quay, which area of the game is Krazy Kremland, chronologically?

From Quiz "DKC2" - Krazy Kremland

Answer: Fourth

Krazy Kremland appears fourth in the game following Gangplank Galleon (the first), Crocodile Cauldron (the second), and Krem Quay (the third). It also happens to be the first area in the game not to feature King K. Rool's old pirate ship, which broke apart gradually over the course of the first three stages. Krazy Kremland is home to both a dangerous amusement park and a series of Zinger hives, filled to the brim with ooey-gooey honey. It's an all-around dangerous place, just like a regular theme park, and filled with stinging creatures...just like a regular theme park. Nothing out of the ordinary.

4. Which button do you press (on the SNES controller) while in the air to perform Dixie's helicopter twirl?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" (SNES) Mixture

Answer: Y

While Diddy's unique ability is the ability to cartwheel (while on the ground), Dixie's is the ability to float through the air like a helicopter, swinging her hair around in a circle. This allows Dixie to be used to cross longer gaps while Diddy can spin on the ground, double-jumping while in mid-air (though this can be trickier to accomplish). If Dixie tries pressing the Y button on the ground (like Diddy performing his cartwheel), she'll swing her hair at the nearest enemy in a spin.

5. Where are we if we're taking part in Screech's Sprint?

From Quiz Where in "Donkey Kong Country 2" Are We?

Answer: The Flying Krock

Screech's Sprint is the only actual level (followed by a boss battle with King K. Rool) in The Flying Krock. Set in the bramble patch once more, this one sends us into a puzzling stage which is comprised of a tricky Kong jaunt through the spikes and then a Squawks-flown race against a black bird named Screech. This is the second of only two races in the entire game, and the only level in which we'll encounter Screech.

6. What is the name the track played in "Lava Lagoon"?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Music

Answer: Lockjaw Saga

The stage appears in World 2 (Crocodile Cauldron). Jump on top of the seals to cool the water because if it's a deep red, you take damage.

7. How many locations are there?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Gloomy Gulch

Answer: Eleven

Like usual there are the main Kong stands including Funky Flights II, Kong Kollege, Monkey Museum, Swanky's Bonus Bonanza, and Klubba's Kiosk. There are six levels including Ghostly Grove, Haunted Hall, Gusty Glade, Parrot Chute Panic, Web Woods, and then the boss level Kreepy Krow.

8. How many locations are in Krazy Kremland?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Krazy Kremland

Answer: 12

The run down amusement park has six levels along with a boss at the end. Likewise the five Kong stands are around the area, most of them inside the amusement park.

9. How many locations are there in Krem Quay?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Krem Quay

Answer: 12

This world has one more level than the previous worlds. There are six levels and a boss, along with the normal five Kong Klan stands. Krem Quay is obviously a swamp themed world.

10. How many locations are there in Crocodile Cauldron?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Crocodile Cauldron

Answer: 11

Just like Gangplank Galleon, Crocodile Cauldron has five levels with one boss. It also has Swanky's Bonus Bonanza, Kong Kollege, Funky's Flights II and the Monkey Museum. A new feature to this world is Klubba's Kiosk which will appear in every level following (minus the Lost World and the Flying Krock).

11. How many locations are in Gangplank Galleon?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Gangplank Galleon

Answer: Ten

Locations do not just include levels but they also include Donkey Kong family stops. The five levels are Pirate Panic, Mainbrace Mayhem, Gangplank Galley, Lockjaw's Locker, and Topsail Trouble. The boss is Krow in the location Krow's Nest. The four family stops are the Monkey Museum, Kong Kollege, Swanky's Bonus Bonanza and Funky's Flights II.

12. The first boss of the game is Krow. How many of Krow's eggs must you throw at him to defeat him?

From Quiz Bosses of "Donkey Kong Country 2"

Answer: Four

Krow will start the battle by grasping an egg in her talons and throwing it to the deck where it will bounce towards you. You'll need to jump on it to bring it down, and then pick it up to hit Krow. After two hits, the eggs will start coming down on their own, so keep picking them up and throwing them until Krow goes down.

13. Which Kong from the original game was the only Kong to not appear in this game?

From Quiz Diddy's Kong

Answer: Candy Kong

Candy Kong was originally the Kong who let you save your game, but her job was replaced by Wrinkly Kong in this game.

14. "Lockjaw's Locker" has music named...

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Music

Answer: Lockjaw's Saga

If you said "Ship Cargo Hold", it's wrong. On the soundtrack it actually is "Lockjaw's Saga".

15. Don't let the Krooks steal this DK coin.

From Quiz Obscure DK Coin Descriptions #3

Answer: Squawk's Shaft

In a narrow part of the shaft two Krooks stand facing each other after defeating them go to the right and up you'll find the third bonus barrel and the DK coin.

16. You'll find Squitter but "Y" don't you set your goals higher?

From Quiz Obscure DK Coin Descriptions #2

Answer: Hot Head Hop

When you find Squitter there is a Y in bananas. Spin platform webs to climb up to get the DK coin and a lot of bananas.

17. A jump from the location will give you an extra life.

From Quiz Obscure DK Coin Descriptions #1

Answer: Mainbrace Mayhem

Getting out of the third bonus barrel, you are placed on the top mast with bananas, banana coins, and the DK coin. Directly below the gap is the end target and no matter when you jump you get a red balloon as a prize.

18. Arrgh! Me pirate senses say that the banana stealing Klobber be first appearing in this level.

From Quiz Ye Know 'Donkey Kong Country 2'?

Answer: Red-Hot Ride

There be four different types of Klobbers. The green one which just runs into ye, the yellow-bellied one which steal bananas, the blackbearded one which steals lives and the TNT dwelling one named Kaboom.

19. Excluding Bosses, what is the thirteenth level?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong 2" Part #2

Answer: Krockhead Klamber

5 levels in world 1, 5 in world 2, so the answer must be the third level in world 3.

20. What is the sub-title for 'Donkey Kong 2'?

From Quiz Donkey Kong Country 2

Answer: 'Diddy's Kong Quest'

Diddy Kong stars in his own game. In 'Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest', Diddy has a girlfriend named Dixie. Dixie's special defense is her long hair, which she uses to float in the air and make safe landings.

21. Who guards the entrance to the Lost World, no matter which entry point you take?

From Quiz "DKC2" - The Lost World

Answer: Klubba

Klubba is a Kremling with a single, simple job to do: Keep the Kongs out. When you visit one of the five Klubba's Kiosk locations around the game (each in different stages), he'll be standing in front of a spinning, golden barrel, protecting it from any intruders. The only way in is a bribe. Optionally, you are also able to challenge Klubba to a fight, but his giant, spiky club will make short work of you if you so much as try.

22. Which animal companion appears in Hornet Hole, giving access to difficult-to-reach barrels and the DK Coin?

From Quiz "DKC2" - Krazy Kremland

Answer: Squitter

Hornet Hole is the first of only a few hive-themed levels in the game, and it's also the first level to appear in Krazy Kremland (or, rather, outside of Krazy Kremland). Here, Diddy and Dixie need to navigate their way through a Zinger Nest, climbing up sheer walls oozing honey (which will actually allow them to jump up on the straight surface). Partway through the level you can also find Squitter the Spider on a high platform, and using him will allow you to access barrels that will shoot you up past the honey walls. Completing the level will also open up the nearby Kong Kollege.

23. Barrel Bayou, the first stage of Krem Quay, introduces which new barrel?

From Quiz "DKC2" - Krem Quay

Answer: Timed Barrel

Timed Barrels are unique in that the Kongs only have a certain amount of time in them before they're fired into whichever direction they're pointed. As such, you have complete control of trajectory-- you spin the barrel whichever way you feel necessary and fire when ready (or else wait for the inevitable shot). The level also features directional barrels, barrels with arrows pointing in their sole direction, which cause a bit of havoc when facing different directions.

24. Which animal companion does not appear in this game?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" (SNES) Mixture

Answer: Expresso

While Expresso the Ostrich was an animal companion in the first "Donkey Kong Country", he, along with Winky the Frog, does not appear in this sequel. The only returning animals are Rambi the Rhino and Enguarde the Swordfish (and Squawks the Parrot, though in a different capacity). Newcomers to the animal companion roster include Squitter the Spider, Rattly the Snake, and Clapper the Seal. Expresso does, however, appear in the Game Boy Advance version of the game, "Donkey Kong Land 2", but only after collecting all of the Golden Feathers.

25. In which stage of the game are we first able to ride Squitter the Spider?

From Quiz Where in "Donkey Kong Country 2" Are We?

Answer: Crocodile Cauldron

Squitter makes his first appearance in the first level of Crocodile Cauldron-- Hot Head Hop. This level is the first of many lava levels in the game, and the entire stage here is themed around a volcano and the mines within. Squitter the Spider, after this stage, appears in every subsequent stage in the game, making him one of the most common companions to show up in Diddy and Dixie's quest. He returns in the next game in the series as well.

26. Hot Head Hop introduces the Kongs to lava. To cross, they can jump on Krocheads. These can be green or which colour?

From Quiz "DKC2" - Crocodile Cauldron

Answer: Brown

There are only two Krocheads found in the lava pits of Crocodile Cauldron, and using them is integral to advancing through the stages. Green ones are basic, small platforms the Kongs can jump on to ensure they don't slip into the dangerous pits while brown ones will actually launch the Kongs into the air, enabling them to cross larger gaps than with a regular jump. Many of these heads can involve clever timing, so having a good rhythm while crossing levels can be a great boon.

27. Which animal companion appears in the game's first level, Pirate Panic?

From Quiz "DKC2" - Gangplank Galleon

Answer: Rambi

Pirate Panic places Diddy and Dixie on the deck of the Gangplank Galleon, and since it's the first level there are very few opportunities to lose out unless you're running directly into enemies...and even then, the majority of the crew is Klomps and Klobbers. Halfway through the level, you can find Rambi waiting in a crate and put him to good use smashing through the area. In fact, one of the bonus stages is only accessible by smashing through a ship wall. Coincidentally, Rambi was also the first animal buddy to appear in the first "Donkey Kong Country".

28. In how many stages outside of Crocodile Cauldron do you hear "Hot Head Bop"?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Music

Answer: One

The stage is "Fiery Furnace", found in the Lost World map. Pay Klubba fifteen Kremkoins ( the coins you get after finishing a bonus stage) to access this world.

29. How many ghost ropes appear in Ghostly Grove?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2" Gloomy Gulch

Answer: Thirty

Ghostly Grove is one of three levels that takes place in a forest. Ghostly Grove is unique because of two main factors. One are the white ropes that moan when they come in and out of existence. There are 26 ropes in the level and four in a bonus area. The other main factor that will appear many more times are the inclusion of Klampons and Spinys appearing in the same area. There are two Bonus areas to find. One will be revealed by breaking a barrel against a wall and the other will be found with aid of the ghost ropes. If you have trouble finding the DK Coin, go through the level and look very carefully you will see it eventually.

30. How many animal buddies are there in the game (not including Clapper the Seal and Glimmer the Angler Fish)?

From Quiz "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest"

Answer: 5 & Five

They are: Rambi the Rhino, Squitter the Spider, Enguarde the Swordfish, Rattly the Snake and Squawks the Parrot. They all have very unique skills. Rambi and Enguarde can both break down walls by charging. To do this, you hold down the A button (based on default controls). Rattly can also jump extremely high by using this button. Squitter and Squawks don't have a charge move, but they both have different offensive moves. Squitter can shoot spider webs that either attack the opponent or flatten out to become levitating platforms, and Squawks can fly and spit eggs at opponents. Note: You may argue about Glimmer and Clapper, as they do assist you in levels. But as you can't ride them, transform into them or use them to defeat enemies, I personally do not count them as official animal buddies.
