Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many locations are there?

Answer: Eleven

Like usual there are the main Kong stands including Funky Flights II, Kong Kollege, Monkey Museum, Swanky's Bonus Bonanza, and Klubba's Kiosk. There are six levels including Ghostly Grove, Haunted Hall, Gusty Glade, Parrot Chute Panic, Web Woods, and then the boss level Kreepy Krow.
2. How many ghost ropes appear in Ghostly Grove?

Answer: Thirty

Ghostly Grove is one of three levels that takes place in a forest. Ghostly Grove is unique because of two main factors. One are the white ropes that moan when they come in and out of existence. There are 26 ropes in the level and four in a bonus area.

The other main factor that will appear many more times are the inclusion of Klampons and Spinys appearing in the same area. There are two Bonus areas to find. One will be revealed by breaking a barrel against a wall and the other will be found with aid of the ghost ropes. If you have trouble finding the DK Coin, go through the level and look very carefully you will see it eventually.
3. The last roller coaster of the level takes place in Haunted Hall. Zingers appear in this level and the only other enemy that appears is the frightening Kackle. All the Kackles wear different colored bandanas. What order do they appear in (first to last)?

Answer: blue, green, light brown, red

This is the only level where the ghastly Kackle appears. Kackle is a ghostly skeleton that carries a sword and has red eyes and only has a torso and a skull. He's big enough to be a boss and if you don't hit enough plus barrels or hit too many minus barrels, you'll see how he got his name. Kackle appears four times through each gated section. Each gated section also has a different theme.

The first one is an introduction to the theme by hitting all the plus barrels and missing a few minus barrels.

The second section there is very little time to start off so you have to hit every plus barrels otherwise one of your monkeys will suffer the wrath of Kackle. The third section gives you a large amount of time with all minus barrels. The last section is the hardest as there are a combination of plus and minus barrels in close proximity to each other.

There are three bonus areas to find and a DK coin to find. Here's a hint. The DK Coin is nowhere on the coaster.
4. In Gusty Glade, what does Rattly turn into if you take him to the No Animal sign?

Answer: a blue balloon

This is one instance of the rare blue balloon that will give you three lives. These can also be found by answering the last quiz in Swanky's Bonus Bonanazas. The only animal that turns into a DK Coin is Rambi in Krem Quay in Barrel Bayou. You can find Rattly by team tossing over the beginning of the level.

However, it is a little difficult for one particular jump to get Rattly to the No Animal sign. Gusty Glade is one of the three windy levels you will encounter. The other ones are Windy Well in K. Rool's Keep and Squawk's section in Animal Antics in the Lost World.

In order to get the DK Coin in this level, you need Dixie.
5. In Parrot Chute Panic, Green Squawks appears.

Answer: True

Even though the majority of the Squawks in this level are purple, Green Squawks does appear to help you in one of the Bonus levels. Squawks originally carried a flashlight in "Donkey Kong Country," but was later converted to carrying you through levels and spitting eggs as a mean of attack. Purple Squawks was added in "Donkey Kong Country 2" and was mainly made for carrying monkeys. You could slow or speed up his flight by pressing down or up on the control pad.

After reaching a certain point though he would let go of you which was symbolized by an egg-spitting sound. You could also dismount by pressing the X button.

In "Donkey Kong Country 3" Purple Squawks was given a new ability. He still wasn't able to spit eggs but he was able to carry barrels to drop on enemies.
6. One may notice that after a while some enemies change their appearance. This happened largely in "Donkey Kong Country" but also happens in "Donkey Kong Country 2." Which two enemies, in Web Woods, changed their original colors?

Answer: Kutlass and Kaboing

Kutlass was originally a light green but was changed into a slightly darker green. Kutlass is the Kremling with two oversized swords that get stuck in the ground when he swung them. One reason he changed colors was to show that we was slightly different.

He swings his swords once automatically pulls them out and may swing several times before they get stuck in the ground. Kaboing appeared all the way back in Gangplank Galleon and is the Kremling who bounces on spring loaded peg legs. In Web Woods, he was changed to turquoise instead of a grayish brown.

He also has a different attack pattern than the original Kaboing. The turquoise Kaboings lie in wait ready to pounce once you draw to near. But if you shoot upward webs at them you can defeat them before they get an opportunity to bounce.

Another enemy that will help you in this level is Kannon as he will help you reveal the two bonus areas.
7. The transparent Neckys that Kreepy Krow summons, cannot be defeated.

Answer: False

They can be defeated but it is not necessary to. They can be defeated just by jumping on them but the solid Necky is the one you want to jump on as it will produce the barrels that are needed to destroy Kreepy Krow. However, even though Kreepy Krow only takes three hits to be defeated don't think it's going to be easy. To make the battle more difficult the battle takes place on three tiers of a ship. Every time you rise up a tier Kreepy Krow will drop eggs to hit you so there is a lot of moving on the small rigging that has to be climbed in order to reach the next tier.
8. What is the only level that has a DK Coin where it, or at least part of it, is not visible?

Answer: Haunted Hall

Believe it or not, Gloomy Gulch has some of the easiest DK Coins to find and obtain. All of them are visible out in the open except for Haunted Hall. The most difficult one to get though is the one in Web Woods. It is the easiest one to find as you pretty much HAVE to see it.

It is on the end target just like the one in Mudhole Marsh. However, unlike Mudhole Marsh, the one in Web Woods appears for about one hundredth of a second before it turns into something else. In order to get this DK Coin you need dead-on timing. Like I said before the DK Coin on Haunted Hall is not on the coaster so there are only two parts where it could not be visible so look around if you haven't found it yet and you'll find it.
9. Once again...it's Geography time! How many squares is the window pane divided into at the top of the Haunted Hall?

Answer: Nine

There are not a lot of geography questions to drag out of this map since the majority of the map is filled with dark ominous trees. Gloomy Gulch does have some distinguishing features though as it is the only world that has forest levels. It is also the last world to feature roller coaster levels and honey bee levels.
10. Kreepy Krow, is the leftmost level on the map.

Answer: False

Actually, the level Ghostly Grove is the leftmost on the map but as the two monkeys leave the scary, or not so scary, Gloomy Gulch they realize that their fears have just begun. The reason for this is because they have to tackle K. Rool's Keep next which involves some of the most difficult levels yet.
