Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Monarch, 70s, London Area, WLTM non-smoking male for fun and friendship. Must have title of earl or higher."

Answer: Queen Elizabeth II

Obviously I don't want to imply that Her Majesty would actually issue a lonely hearts ad. Just a bit of fun, ma'am. The late Queen was, of course, happily married to well known gaffester Prince Philip.
2. "Prepare to be shaken, not shhtirred. Scottish actor seeks lady for "bonding". No timewashhters."

Answer: Sean Connery

Interesting fact - Sean Connery was not the first to play James Bond on screen. A 1954 TV version of "Casino Royale" starred American actor Barry Nelson as "Jimmy Bond".
3. "Long-necked Canadian seeks gentleman for "titanic" romance. Deafness essential."

Answer: Celine Dion

A "Yahoo" search for "Celine Dion sucks" brings up no less than 9,720 matches. Isn't the internet fantastic?
4. "Social life "dead calm"? Sparkling Diamond looking for relationship to die for."

Answer: Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman appeared in a play in London a few years ago - "The Blue Room". By all accounts, she performed well, but it revealed a lot about our male theatre critics. Virtually every review ignored the actual play, and just commented at length on how beautiful Ms Kidman was.
5. "Ex vice president with lots of spare time WLTM lady for fun and macarenas. No pregnant chads."

Answer: Al Gore

From what I can gather, George Bush's victory in Florida was completely illegal, and Al Gore should actually be the current most powerful man on earth. You'd have thought someone would have noticed, eh?
6. "Walking corpse seeks bride to put some spark back into life."

Answer: Frankenstein

I don't know about you, but I thought Robert de Niro made a very unconvincing Frankenstein's monster. His head wasn't even green.
7. "Are you the answer to my equation? I'm a wild haired German scientist - let's make relativity."

Answer: Albert Einstein

According to Einstein, space is curved. This is probably why you can never park your car.
8. "Cuddly bear seeks "piglet" for honey and friendship. No heffalumps."

Answer: Winnie the Pooh

It's a little known fact that Winnie the Pooh was actually named after Winnipeg in Canada. The original Winnipeg (or Winnie for short) was the mascot of a Canadian brigade who came to Britain in the early 20th century, and the bear ultimately ended up in a British zoo. The zoo was a favourite haunt of A.A Milne, and his son, Christopher, who named his teddy bear after it.
9. "My love life's gone for a Burton. I'm Cleopatra - looking for my ninth Antony."

Answer: Elizabeth Taylor

As an extra bonus question (for no points), can you name all of Elizabeth Taylor's husbands (as at January 2003)? Scroll down for the answer:
Nicky Hilton (as in hotels),
Michael Wilding, actor,
Michael Todd, producer,
Eddie Fisher, singer,
Richard Burton, actor (twice),
John Warner, senator,
Larry Fortensky, trucker.
10. "Can you make me the artist formerly known as lonely?"

Answer: Prince

Prince has gone through several incarnations, including "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince". Given his recent lack of success, "The Artist Formerly Known" would probably be enough.
