Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the famous daughter of actress Goldie Hawn?

Answer: Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson, born in 1979, is an American actress, writer and fashion designer - and the daughter of the equally famous actress, producer and singer, Goldie Hawn. Kate's well known films (more than thirty by 2018 alone) include the 2003 comedy "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" in which she plays a writer of a women's magazine who makes a foolish pledge that she can get a man to fall for her - but then drive him away within ten days by making all the mistakes that women are said to do in relationships.

In 2011, she also made the very moving "A little Bit of Heaven" based on a footloose and fancy free woman who suddenly finds herself dying from a terminal illness, and how, through dying, she finally realises true love.
2. Can you name the famous daughter of the actor who played the evil Victor Kiriakis in the soap opera "Days of Our Lives"?

Answer: Jennifer Aniston

Victor Kiriakis, a quietly menacing villain is ever there was one from the long running soap opera "Days of Our Lives", has been played for years by actor John Aniston. His daughter, of course, is the lovely Jennifer Aniston, who initially rose to fame as the somewhat ditzy character Rachel Green on the extremely popular television series "Friends" (1994-2004). Jennifer, born in 1969, has gone on from that successful beginning to become a highly paid actress on the big screen, and a successful producer and business woman as well - and, with a sorrowful and unsuccessful love life, the much sought out fodder of the gossip columnists.
3. Who is the on-the-rise well known actor son of the famous actor who played Commander Jim Lovell in the 1995 "Apollo 13"?

Answer: Colin Hanks

Tom Hanks is several quizzes in his own right as he grows from strength to strength in the depth of his character portrayals on the silver screen. This multi-talented, multi-award winning actor has passed on his theatrical genes to his eldest son, Colin Hanks, the spitting image, just in passing, of his father.

Born in 1977, Colin is an American television and big screen actor, director and producer. His starring roles include that of the carefree teenager, Shaun Brumder, in the 2002 film "Orange County" in which his entire life is turned upside down and inside out by the death of a friend in a surfing accident. Colin's television roles include the 2019 "Roswell" (playing Alex Whitman), the 2014 "Fargo" (playing officer Gus Grimly), and the 2001 "Band of Brothers" in which he plays First Lieutenant Henry S. Jones.
4. Academy award winning actor, Jon Voight, is the father of which multi-faceted actress and humanitarian?

Answer: Angelina Jolie

Jon Voight, whose screen presence becomes more and more powerful with each passing year, has been nominated on many occasions for various acting accolades. Of these, he has taken home twelve awards, including one Academy Award for his role in the 1978 film "Coming Home".

But what can one say about his breathlessly beautiful and multi-talented daughter, Angelina Jolie, that hasn't been repeated over and over again in all forms of the media? Born in 1975, and with the first part of her life seeming to be destined to lead down a dark and troubled path, this remarkable actress, filmmaker, humanitarian - and mother - turned her life around in one amazing moment when she looked down into the eyes of a seven month old baby boy at an orphanage in Cambodia, a baby she subsequently adopted. From that moment, and in addition to turning out one powerful movie after the other (winning an Academy for her role in the 2000 film, "Girl Interrupted"), Angelina has devoted her time, her talent, and her money to various humanitarian and conservation causes right around the world. All this while continuing her own personal battle against cancer.

She truly is an inspirational human being.
5. Which famous actress daughter of English actor, Will Knightley, has led a somewhat piratical life in her recent films?

Answer: Keira

Will Knightley is an English stage, television and film actor possibly best known for his stage roles than those on the screen, but also for guest appearances in many well known English produced television shows such as "Midsomer Murders" (ongoing since 1997) and "A Touch of Frost" (1992-2010) and "Rosemary and Thyme" (2003-2007).

His famous daughter, Keira, born in 1985, works both sides of the Atlantic in her various film roles, as well as her appearances on Broadway and the West End stage productions.

She is perhaps best known for her role as Elizabeth Swann in the series of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, and, to my horror, for her award winning "performance" as Elizabeth Bennett in the simply WOEFUL 2005 production of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice".
6. Famous for his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the 21st century rebooted series of "Star Trek" films, who is this actor who comes from several generations of thespians?

Answer: Chris Pine

Chris Pine (born in 1980) is famous for his ongoing role as Captain James Tiberius Kirk in the series of rebooted "Star Trek" films which hit the screens from 2009 onwards, but then, anyone who played that incredible character first made famous by Canadian actor William Shatner, would be bound to become well known. Chris, however, is a fine actor known for assorted other well known roles as well. These include his role as Jack Ryan in the action spy thriller "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" (2014). Possibly one reason that Chris is not more famous for his undoubted acting skills than he already is, is that he's so very good looking! He definitely is that, but such perfection of features could detract from his performances on the screen to a degree - and the roles he is offered.

Both parents of Chris were well known actors as well - his father, Robert, for his role in the television series "CHiPs" (1977-1983) as Sergeant Getraer; and his mother, Gwynne, for her role in several television series from the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to this, Chris's grandmother, Anne Gwynne was a famous actress and model and one of Hollywood's first "scream queens" with 31 films to her credit - so acting is well and truly in the blood of this strikingly fine looking family.
7. Remaining in space momentarily, who was the actress - with a very famous famous grandfather - who played Tasha Yar in "Star Trek: The Next Generation"?

Answer: Denise Crosby

Denise Crosby (born 1957) is an American actress and model who first began to grab the attention of the public when she appeared as the high profile character, Lisa Davis in the long running soap opera, "Days of Our Lives". From there, she either guest starred or had recurring roles in other television series of the era before landing the role of Chief of Security, Tasha Yar, in the famous "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987-1994). It was an awkward time for a woman to be placed in such a normally male dominated role, and the writers of the series never quite grasped how Tasha should be portrayed - strong and powerful while still remaining feminine, or a clinging piece of eye candy grasping a phaser in one hand and a tube of lipstick in the other. This resulted in the role of Tasha being sent more and more to the sidelines of the episodes, and the disillusioned Denise left the series after appearing in 22 of these only.

Denise's father was the American actor and singer, Dennis Crosby, who never really reached the big time because of his battle with alcoholism, and who killed himself at the age of fifty - but her grandfather? None other than the world famous actor and singer, the great old Bing Crosby.
8. In what field has Ashley Judd's mother, Naomi, become a famous figure?

Answer: Country and western singing

Ashley Judd, born in 1968, is an American actress from a family of successful country and western singers. Her mother is Naomi Judd, who not only croons a tune or two, but is also a well known songwriter, actress and activist; while her sister, Wynonna Judd, is also a well known country music singer. Ashley herself is the star of many well known films, such as that of her role of the convicted (but innocent) killer in the powerful "Double Jeopardy" (1999), an engrossing film if ever there was one. With 37 movies to her credit by 2019, and no doubt with many more to come, Ashley is also very active in various humanitarian and political causes as well.

This is one gal, who is not afraid to speak her mind, clearly, concisely and intelligently, so much so that there have been ongoing rumours in the background for the past several years that Ashley may one day run for the Senate.
9. Bursting onto the screen with his starring role in the 1977 film "Butterflies are Free" alongside Goldie Hawn, who was Edward Albert's famous acting father?

Answer: Eddie Albert

Eddie Albert (1906-2005) starred in over 90 film and television mini series during his long life. These included his role as the cruel prison warder in the 1974 film, "The Longest Yard". Then of course there was his starring role in the long running television series "Green Acres" (1965-1971) with Eva Gabor.

His son, Edward Albert (1951-2006), won a Golden Globe Award for a New Star of the Year in his role "Butterflies are Free" in which he played a young blind man struggling to achieve independence and grasp life with both hands.

He appeared in over 50 films from that time, but more and more he began to turn down offers of other roles in order to care for his father Eddie, who at the latter stages of his life, struggled with Alzheimer's Disease. That role of love makes Edward the biggest star of all, don't you agree? Within a year of his father's death, Edward Albert, who was diagnosed with lung cancer early in 2005, also passed away.
10. Her much loved and equally famous mother died within a day following the death of her daughter, "Princess Leia". Who played that famous role?

Answer: Carrie Fisher

American actress, singer, businesswoman and humanitarian, Debbie Reynolds, lived from 1932 until 2016. This immensely talented singing, dancing and acting star of the silver screen made over 80 films, documentaries and TV movies during her life and was performing right up until her death, one day following the death of her much loved daughter, Carrie Fisher. It wouldn't be too dramatic to suggest that she died of a broken heart. The bond between the two women was unique and special.

Carrie Fisher (1956-2016) will be forever remembered for her role as the beautiful, feisty, enchanting, ready to die for her people, Princess Leia, in the series of "Star Wars" films, a characterisation perhaps more recognisable than any other role in the history of movie making. Prior to that death from cardiac arrest on a flight back home to Los Angeles from London, and with a long history of battling drug addiction, Carrie still managed to make another fifty films, and appeared in over fifty television productions. In between all this, Carrie, a polished writer, turned out four novels, four works of non-fiction, four screenplays and three stage plays. Then the curtain fell on the lives of two memorable and beautiful women - and the theatre lights went down.
