The success of that show even influenced the primetime cartoon series the Flintstones. Fred's voice was modeled after Gleason and although the producers wanted to use a model of Art Carney's voice for Barney Rubble it fell through. Gleason was nominated for an Academy Award in 1961 for his portrayal of legendary pool shark Minnesota Fats in the Paul Newman film "The Hustler".

His son was the lead singer of a popular group during the 1960s and he also gained recognition by establishing a famous charity organization in which he was the spokesperson. Who was this giant of comedy?

Answer: Jerry Lewis

In 1946 Lewis teamed up with popular singer Dean Martin to form a comedy team that lasted ten years. The format of using a singer as a straight man with a bumbling comedian to form a comedy team was first used in 1940 when crooner Bing Crosby and comic legend Bob Hope teamed up for the series of "The Road To..." films. Martin and Lewis became just as popular as a comic duo.

His son was Gary Lewis of "Gary Lewis and the Playboys" who cut several top ten singles during the 1960s, including the number one hit "This Diamond Ring" (1965). On his own he made the original film, "The Nutty Professor" (1962) which Eddie Murphy remade in 1996.

10. This popular comic from St. Louis, Missouri started out with a raunchy night club act before getting into television. Although he didn't make that many movies he was cast in the Eddie Murphy film "Harlem Nights" (1989). Who was this super comedian?

Answer: Redd Foxx

"Sanford and Son" (1972-1977) was the perfect canvas to display Foxx's comical talent. He played raunchy loud mouth junk dealer Fred Sanford whose sarcasm even rivaled the great Archie Bunker of "All In The Family" (1971-1979). His tirades filled with insults towards Aunt Esther were classic.

A typical dialogue would have Aunt Esther saying, "You can't upset me today Fred Sanford, cause I got the spirit of Christmas", to which Fred would reply, "Yes, and the face of Halloween". Foxx's last role was with Della Reese on the sitcom "The Royal Family" where on October 11, 1991 he collapsed on the set from a heart attack.

He never regained consciousness.
