Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which day of the week did the 1992 "SummerSlam" take place?

Answer: Saturday

That's right, indeed it was on a Saturday. By this being the case, this marks thus far the only "SummerSlam" to have taken place on a Saturday. Before the fifth annual edition, the event would be held live on Mondays, rather than the now-accustomed Sunday as Pay Per View night. England fans got to see the event live, as 80,355 wrestling fans from all over the world were in attendance at Wembley Stadium, which is located in London, England. On the other hand, North America also got the privilege of watching the 1992 "SummerSlam", but on tape delay, which would air two days after it actually took place on August 31, 1992.

This also marks and thus far, the only time in which "SummerSlam" was NOT broadcasted live in North America.
2. What was the announced total attendance for this event?

Answer: 80,355

"SummerSlam" 1992 was held in front of 80,355 fans from all over the world, and to date, this marks the second largest attendance crowd ever for a WWE event, with WrestleMania III being the first with a record of 93,173 and WrestleMania 23 being the third with a record of 80,103.

As for the "SummerSlam" event itself, 1992 holds the record for of course, the largest crowd ever to attend the event. Coming in second and third are the two years (1993 and 1994) that followed.
3. How many matches were NOT televised?

Answer: 3

There were four that only the crowd in attendance got to see, and in those, Papa Shango faced Tito Santana with Shango walking out victorious; Tatanka scored the pin fall over the Berzerker; and in the longest one among the four, The Bushwhackers (Luke & Butch) and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan defeated The Mountie and The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobbs) after Duggan pinned The Mountie.
4. "SummerSlam" would begin with a Tag Team Match, and in 1992, it was no different. Two teams faced off against each other, but who was it that scored the pin fall in the opening Tag Team Match?

Answer: Animal

The Legion of Doom (Hawk and Animal) squared off against Money Inc. (Irwin R. Schyster and Ted "Million Dollar Man" DiBiase) in the opening contest of "SummerSlam" 1992, and in the match, after 15 minutes of back-and-forth "in your face" action, Animal finally scored the pin fall on the Million Dollar Man, giving the Legion of Doom yet another victory at "SummerSlam". Demolition Ax and "Ravishing" Rick Rude were NOT a part of the 1992 "SummerSlam".
5. Two matches that occurred at "SummerSlam" 1992, those being Virgil vs. Nailz and Rick "The Model" Martel vs. Shawn Michaels, did not end in a pin fall decision.

Answer: True

Immediately following the Tag Team Match between The Legion of Doom and Money Inc., Nailz defeated Virgil in a Singles Match via a submission in four minutes and in the match that followed it, a double count-out was ruled out in another Singles Match, this time between "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Rick "The Model" Martel.

The reason behind the count-out was due to both men checking up on Sensational Sherri, who had fainted after falling off the ring apron. Both men were fighting just to try to impress Sherri, who was in love with Michaels but simultaneously had a crush on Martel, and to prove, once and for all, that they are the better man.
6. The WWE World Tag Team Championship belts were on the line (as usual), and it was none other than The Natural Disasters defending them against The Beverly Brothers. Who scored the pin fall in the match, and over whom?

Answer: Earthquake; Beau

This match came to an end at around the ten minute mark when Earthquake, one half of The Natural Disasters, got the pin fall over Beau, one half of The Beverly Brothers, thus retaining the titles. This was the first time that not only The Natural Disasters defended the titles at "SummerSlam", but also the first time in which both teams competed for the titles at the event.
7. In a non-televised Singles Match at "SummerSlam" 1992, Crush defeated The Repo Man via a submission.

Answer: True

Indeed he did, and it only took approximately six minutes to finish the job. This match happened to be Crush's (a former member of Demolition) first Singles Match at a "SummerSlam".
8. The first of three Main Event Matches at "SummerSlam" 1992 would arrive, and somehow ironically, it happened to be the WWE Championship Match. This is, of course, a rare exception in the tradition of professional wrestling, that being having a major title being defended in the lower part of a card, with another championship placed after it. In the WWE Championship Match at "SummerSlam" 1992, who walked away the champion?

Answer: "Macho Man" Randy Savage

Surprisingly enough, Hulk Hogan was NOT a part of this "SummerSlam". As for the WWE Championship Match itself, "Macho Man" Randy Savage walked in and out of "SummerSlam" 1992 the WWE Champion, however, his opponent, Ultimate Warrior, scored a victory over Savage, but via a count-out. Since the rule of a title not being able to change hands on either a count-out or a disqualification was being enforced, Savage retained the title after nearly 30 minutes of battle!
9. The penultimate match of "SummerSlam" 1992 followed (on the original telecast), but it came to a short end after Kamala became disqualified. Who received the victory in the bout?

Answer: The Undertaker

A little over three minutes is all it took to make this one-on-one contest rather "uneventful". This came to be when Kimchee, who accompanied Kamala along with Harvey Wippleman, got himself involved in the match after deciding to hit The Undertaker with his pith helmet, hoping to win Kamala an advantage, but that of course would shortly backfire on him as Kamala would lose the match, but of course, by a disqualification.

This match marked both men's first Singles Match at the event, as well as their first appearances at "SummerSlam".
10. The headline Main Event Match for "SummerSlam" 1992 was for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. It was the defending champion Bret "Hitman" Hart up against "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith, set to lock up in the squared circle, in front of thousands of eager fans. After all was said and done, what move brought this classic match to a finish?

Answer: A Reversal roll-up

A new champion was crowned on this very night when The British Bulldog, the challenger, countered a Sunset Flip attempt by Bret Hart, and sat on him, hooked his legs and finally got the three after over 25 minutes of memorable classic action. The 80,355 fans in attendance went wild for the Hometown Hero upon pinning Bret "Hitman" Hart, bringing up one of the loudest cheers/applauses you'd ever hear! In the crowd was Bulldog's wife, who looked on from start to finish, looking somewhat concerned. After both men delivered one of the finest matches to ever occur in the history of wrestling, both men shook hands and hugged in the middle of the ring, showing deserved respect for one another.

This match is considered by many to be one of, if not THE greatest match of both men's respected, distinguished careers, and that you would know if you see for yourself!
