Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "It's all over now, baby" and according to Bob Dylan, what color will that make you?

Answer: blue

"It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" was on Bob Dylan's 1965 "Bringing It All Back Home" album and was also released as a single. It can be considered a 'break up' song and one about new beginnings. As with many Dylan songs there has been speculation regarding what the song was about, in this case who Baby Blue was; Joan Baez, Dylan himself and the folk music audience in general have been suggested as the subject of the song.
2. What color is your clockwork?

Answer: orange

"A Clockwork Orange" was the title of a 1962 novella by Anthony Burgess. It concerned youth violence in the not-too-distant future England from the viewpoint of one of the perpetrators. It was made into a movie in 1971 starring Malcolm McDowell.
3. If you want to be a doctor there is an anatomy book you better memorize. Who wrote it?

Answer: Henry Gray

Henry Gray's "Anatomy of The Human Body" (aka "Gray's Anatomy") was originally published in 1858. Gray, an anatomist in England, saw the need for an anatomical textbook for medical students. Working with unclaimed cadavers, Gray and illustrator Henry Vandyke Carter worked for 18 months on the book; it has over 1,200 illustrations.
4. Which American poet wrote "Nothing Gold Can Stay"?

Answer: Robert Frost

Robert Frost wrote "Nothing Gold Can Stay" as part of his "New Hampshire" collection of poems. The poet states that while nature starts its day with a gold color, "So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay."
5. What is Pokemon Yellow?

Answer: a video game

"Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition" (thankfully shortened to "Pokemon Yellow") is a Nintendo role-playing video game. Released in 1998 for the Nintendo Game Boy console, it was designed as a stop-gap game until the "Pokemon Silver" and "Pokemon Gold" games were finished, however, it sold well and gamers were pleased with the game.
6. John Steinbeck wrote a novella about a pony in the 1930s. What color was the pony?

Answer: red

Steinbeck's "The Red Pony" consists of four chapters which were published in magazines from 1933 to 1936 and as a complete book in 1937. It concerns the coming-of-age of the character Jody Tiflin on his family's California ranch.
7. An American TV show was about the Hill Street. What was it Called? "Hill Street _____".

Answer: blues

Disregard most of the English Premier League nicknames and you're left with "Hill Street Blues", a police drama ('blues' is a slang term for police) that ran for six seasons. It received much critical acclaim and TV Guide magazine considers it one of the best police shows ever produced. Sergeant Esterhaus' closing remark at each roll call: "Let's be careful out there" became an '80s catch phrase.
8. Tom Hanks starred in a 1999 movie adaptation of a colorfully-named Stephen King novel. What was its title?

Answer: The Green Mile

Tom Hanks played death row prison officer Paul Edgecomb in the movie adaptation of Stephen King's "The Green Mile", meaning the color of the linoleum in Cold Mountain State Penitentiary's death row. Edgecomb deals with sadistic guards as well as convicted killers, one of whom seems to have supernatural abilities.
9. What is "Blackadder"?

Answer: a BBC sitcom

"Blackadder" was a British Broadcasting Corporation situation comedy encompassing four series and several single episodes. Rowan Atkinson played anti-hero Edmund Blackadder; Tony Robinson played Baldrick, Blackadder's dogsbody, or gopher. The shows ran from 1983 to 2000 with each series set in a different historical period. Polls frequently rank them as among the best British television programs.
10. How much paler than pale can "A Whiter Shade of Pale" be? Who sang that song?

Answer: Procol Harum

"A Whiter Shade of Pale" was the debut single for Procol Harum in 1967. A bit obtuse, the song lyrics are sometimes regarded as having a sexual theme. The song was a smash hit so the band apparently celebrated by firing their original guitarist and drummer (Ray Royer and Bill Eyden), replacing them with Robin Trower and Barry Wilson, who were thought more able to handle the band's subsequent heavy touring schedule.
