The video game 'The Legend of Zelda' was first brought out in 1986 and turned out to be the first game in a long-running series. The character Link is not always exactly the same but is always a male Hylian who often wears a pointed cap and a green tunic. Link usually works to save his world, Hyrule, from the evil Ganon and he is accompanied by the princess Zelda, who he also sometimes saves from Ganon.

The very successful game was developed by game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka and is mainly published by Nintendo. Not only was a television series based on the game made in the USA in 1989 but since 1997 manga adaptations have been released in Japan.

The movie was directed by Chris Butler, who also wrote the screenplay, and Mr Link was voiced by Zach Galifianakis. Simon Green is a British DJ, producer and musician who is now based in Los Angeles and chose the name of a species of ape as his professional name. His first single to be released was called 'Terrapin' and in 2000 his first solo album, 'Animal Magic', came out. More releases followed and his sixth album, 'Migration' (2017), was nominated for a Grammy Award.

The same album was nominated for and won Album of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards of 2017 and Bonobo himself was nominated for Act of the Year at the same awards. The single 'Linked' was released online in July 2019 and was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the Grammy Awards and did not win but was the runner-up.

Eric Linklater was born in 1899 and died in 1974 and wrote mainly for adults, producing many fictional and non-fictional literary works. He also wrote three books for children: 'The Wind on the Moon', which was published in 1944, 'The Pirates in the Deep Green Sea (1949) and 'Karina With Love' (1958).

'The Wind on the Moon' was about the different adventures of two sisters, who were turned into kangaroos for a while but met, and were aided by, a falcon and a puma. They later rescued their dancing teacher from jail and then rescued their father from a tyrant. In the 1986 movie 'Link' an American student played by Elizabeth Shue spent some time at the home of an English scientist played by Terence Stamp. Also in the house were his three chimpanzees, who he was training and using to research the missing link between humans and apes. When the scientist disappeared the student stayed on but the chimpanzees grew increasingly aggressive.

Link was actually played by an orangutan named Locke whose fur was dyed to make him appear more like a chimpanzee but the other two apes were both played by real chimpanzees. The movie had mixed reviews from the critics and was not financially successful but Elizabeth Shue and the composer Jerry Goldsmith, who wrote the film's score, were both nominated for a Saturn Award.
