Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. All of the "Bunnicula" novels were narrated by a dog.

Answer: True

Harold is the oldest dog of the Monroe family. All of the main "Bunnicula" novels were narrated from Harold's point of view. The first book of the series, titled "Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery", was published in 1979 and written by both Deborah and James Howe.

The rest of the "Bunnicula" books were only written by James, since Deborah sadly passed away nearly a year before the first book was published.
2. Where did the Monroe boys find Bunnicula?

Answer: at a movie theater

Peter and Toby were the two young boys of the Monroe family. They found an abandoned rabbit at a local movie theater when they went to see a film about Count Dracula, the most famous vampire. They decided to keep the rabbit as a pet and named him Bunnicula. Bunnicula had two vampire-like fangs in his mouth and also had a design on his fur shaped like a cape.
3. What was the name (shared with the Cheetos mascot) of the Monroe family's pet cat who was always trying to kill Bunnicula?

Answer: Chester

Chester was an orange cat who lived with the Monroe family. Ever since the two boys brought Bunnicula home, Chester was afraid that the bunny was a vampire. The rabbit acted normally when the rest of the family was around. Chester would often come up with plans to try and get rid of the rabbit either by killing him or by setting him up so that the rest of Monroe family would witness the rabbit's true nature.

However, most of the time Chester wound up getting himself in trouble trying to expose Bunnicula.
4. What happened in the Monroe house that made the cat believe Bunnicula was a vampire?

Answer: All of the vegetables turned white

Soon after Bunnicula was brought home from the theater, all of the vegetables in the Monroe house started mysteriously turning white. Chester discovered that the white vegetables had two fang marks on them which led him to believe that Bunnicula was a vampire.

The Monroe family believed that the white vegetables were caused by a disease that infected their local supermarket. After Chester tried to starve Bunnicula, the Monroe family took Bunnicula to a vet, who recommended that the rabbit drink vegetable juice.

After that, the vegetables in the house stopped turning white.
5. What type of vegetable did the cat use to protect himself from Bunnicula?

Answer: garlic

Chester was obsessed with trying to expose Bunnicula and believed that the rabbit was a danger to the rest of the family. In the first novel, he would cover himself and Bunnicula's cage with garlic, a pungent vegetable that is said to be able to ward off vampires. Chester also tried to kill Bunnicula by trying to drive a stake into his heart.

However, Chester used a piece of steak (meat) rather than a wooden stake, which was ineffective and resulted in Chester being kicked out of the house.
6. How many "Bunnicula" books were written for the main series (1979-2006)?

Answer: 7

There were seven books published during the main series of "Bunnicula". The first was "Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery", which was published in 1979 and the final book was released in 2006. James Howe started a spinoff series titled "Tales from the House of Bunnicula" in 2003. James Howe also authored another spinoff series titled "Bunnicula and Friends: Ready To Read" in 2008, which were aimed at younger readers, as the main series was aimed at children aged 8-12.
7. What type of dog was Howie, a puppy introduced in the second "Bunnicula" book titled "Howliday Inn"?

Answer: Dachshund

"Howliday Inn", the second book of the main "Bunnicula" series, was published in 1982. In the second book, Harold and Chester were sent to a kennel named Chateau Bow-Wow while the Monroe family went on vacation. While there they wound up in the middle of a kidnapping mystery involving the other animals.

At the end of the novel, when the Monroe family pick up Harold and Chester, they end up adopting a Dachshund puppy named Howie, who would later narrate the spinoff series "Tales from the House of Bunnicula".
8. What was the title of the third "Bunnicula" book?

Answer: The Celery Stalks at Midnight

"The Celery Stalks at Midnight" was the third book of the "Bunnicula" series, which was published in 1983. In the third book, the scene returned to the Monroe house, where Chester began to have suspicions about Bunnicula again. Bunnicula had mysteriously gone missing and Chester believed that the vampire rabbit was looking for vegetables to suck on which he believed could become an army of zombie veggies. Chester, Harold and Howie went off to search for the missing bunny.
9. Which of these is the title of another "Bunnicula" book which may cause you to have bad dreams?

Answer: Nighty Nightmare

"Nighty Nightmare" was published in 1987 as the fourth book of the "Bunnicula" series. The plot of the fourth book saw Harold, Chester and Howie get into trouble while on a camping trip. The fifth book of the series, "Return to Howliday Inn" was published in 1992 and presented another mystery from the Chateau Bow-Wow.

The sixth book, which was titled "Bunnicula Strikes Again!", was published in 1995 and saw the two dogs attempt to find Bunnicula's mother.
10. What is the name of the creepy bird that Bunnicula met in his final book?

Answer: Edgar Allan Crow

The seventh and final book of the main "Bunnicula" series was released in 2006 and is titled "Bunnicula Meets Edgar Allan Crow". The story involved a man name M.T. Graves, the favorite horror author of Pete Monroe, who had come over to the house to spend the night. Chester, Harold and Howie suspected that the author and his pet bird, Edgar Allan Crow, were planning to kidnap Bunnicula.
