Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What continent is Canada located in?

Answer: North America

Canada is located at the top of the North American continent. Part of it is considered arctic because it is so cold. Canada has a relatively small population for a country of its size.
2. Which country does Canada share a border with?

Answer: USA

On a map, Canada is located mostly above the USA (Alaska borders Canada to the west). Mexico is underneath them, and England and France are in Europe, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Canada is often overshadowed by its southern neighbor.
3. Canada is bordered by _____ oceans.

Answer: 3

The Pacific to the west, the Arctic to the North, and the Atlantic to the East. Canada is the only country to be bordered by three of the four oceans.
4. How many provinces and territories does Canada have in total?

Answer: 13

There are ten provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. The three territories are Yukon, Nunavut, and Northwest Territories.
5. What is the biggest province in terms of land area?

Answer: Quebec

Quebec is also mostly French speaking. Its capital is Quebec City, but many people think it is Montreal because Montreal is bigger and more well known.
6. What ocean does British Columbia border?

Answer: Pacific

British Columbia is in the far west of Canada. It has the country's biggest port (Vancouver), and is well known for its salmon. Victoria (on Vancouver Island) is BC's capital.
7. When was Nunavut made a territory?

Answer: 1999

Nunavut was a part of the Northwest Territories until 1999. Its capital is Iqualit, in the far north. Nunavut has the lowest population of all the territories and provinces in Canada. It is mostly Inuit who live there.
8. British Columbia and Alberta are bordered by what mountain or mountain range?

Answer: Rockies

The Rockies stretch almost all the way along the BC/Alberta border, which is quite long. I made up Mount Brital, Mount Baker is in the Yukon, and the Himalayas are in Asia.
9. What is the smallest province/territory in Canada?

Answer: Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward island is so tiny, most people skip over it while looking at a map, and only count 12 provinces/territories. Charlottetown is its capital. It is famous for being the setting of the book "Anne of Green Gables".
10. What does Canada's flag look like?

Answer: Red and white with a red maple leaf

The flag has a white middle, with a vertical red stripe on both sides. There is a maple leaf in the middle of the white part. Some people think it is a boring flag, but I think it's cool. Thank you for playing my quiz!
