Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was Freakazoid's alter ego?

Answer: Dexter Douglas

Freakazoid was a blue-skinned superhero with black hair (w/ white lightning shaped streaks) and red tights. His alter ego was Dexter Douglas, a teenage computer geek from Washington, D.C. Whenever Dexter transformed into Freakazoid, his personality changed from a scrawny nerd into a muscular rambunctious lunatic. Freakazoid had super strength and speed, but could not fly, even though he often pretended he could. Dexter and Freakazoid were both voiced by Paul Rugg.
2. Freakazoid's cat was responsible for the accident that created him. What was the cat's name?

Answer: Mr. Chubbikins

Freakazoid was created when Dexter's fat orange cat (Mr. Chubbikins) walked across his keyboard after he installed a new computer chip he got for Christmas. The cat accidentally entered a secret code which caused Dexter to be sucked into cyberspace and obtain his super powers when he pressed the Delete key.

After learning to control his powers, Dexter could change into Freakazoid by shouting "Freak out!" and would change back to normal by shouting "Freak in!"
3. Which of these was the name of one of Freakazoid's main villains?

Answer: The Lobe

One of Freakazoid's major enemies was The Lobe, a highly intelligent mad scientist with an oversized brain-shaped cranium. The Lobe often enjoyed it when Freakazoid chased him around. The character was voiced by the late David Warner (1941-2022), who played numerous roles in both film and television including "TRON", "Star Trek" and "Batman: The Animated Series".
4. The villain Gutierrez gained the same powers as Freakazoid. What word often made him mad?

Answer: Weenie

Armando Gutierrez was chairman of the tech company whose computer chip caused Dexter to gain his super powers. Gutierrez became obsessed with (and was later successful at) replicating the accident that created Freakazoid, which turned Gutierrez into a super villain.

He hated being called a weenie and often encouraged people to laugh with him. Gutierrez was voiced by the late Ricardo Montalban (1920-2009), who had major roles in "Planet of The Apes", "Fantasy Island" and "Star Trek".
5. Can you identify the police officer who became Freakazoid's best friend?

Answer: Sgt. Cosgrove

Cosgrove was an elderly police sergeant who became one of Freakazoid's best friends. He would often get Freakazoid to go to various activities with him such as getting ice cream or watching a bear ride a motorcycle. Cosgrove was very intimidating, despite his age. All he had to do was yell "Cut it out!" and people would often stop in their tracks. Cosgrove was voiced by Ed Asner (1929-2021), who also provided his voice for Carl in the Disney/Pixar film "Up".
6. Who was Freakazoid's girlfriend/love interest?

Answer: Steff

Steff (aka Stephanie) was Dexter Douglas' high school crush. Steff initially did not have any feelings for Dexter, but did end up developing a crush on Freakazoid. She eventually became Dexter's girlfriend after learning that Freakazoid and Dexter were the same person. Steff later became a major ally in Freakazoid's battle against crime. Steff was voiced by Tracy Rowe.
7. Which of these was the name of a female supervillain in "Freakazoid"?

Answer: Cobra Queen

Cobra Queen was another recurring villain in the "Freakazoid!" series. She lived in the sewers and had the ability to control snakes, including several giant cobras. Cobra Queen was voiced by veteran voice actress Tress MacNeille. The character spoke with a lisp similar to the "Looney Tunes" character Sylvester, which was pointed out to the Cobra Queen by Freakazoid.
8. There was a large alien character in "Freakazoid!" that had two different names in the series. What were they?

Answer: Mo-Ron / Bo-Ron

Mo-Ron made his first appearance in the third episode (season one) of "Freakazoid!". He was a tall and obese green-skinned alien with extremely low intelligence. In his first appearance, Mo-Ron was supposed to deliver a message to Earth, but he forgot what it was and ended up getting roasted by the US Army.

The character made his second appearance in the eleventh episode of the same season, however his name was changed to Bo-Ron. His second episode was a parody of the 1982 movie "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial".
9. Which visual program was used to censor scenes of intense violence during one episode of "Freakazoid"?

Answer: Relax-O-Vision

"Relax-O-Vision" was a segment that aired during episode nine (season one) of "Freakazoid!". It featured a network censor by the name of H.A. Futterman (voiced by Ben Stein), who felt that "Freakazoid!" was getting too violent and introduced the audience to Relax-O-Vision.

Whenever a scene got violent, Relax-O-Vision overrode the screen with calm music and relaxing imagery. Freakazoid eventually got fed up with it and Mr. Futterman ended up getting his butt kicked.
10. Freakazoid later made a guest appearance in which cartoon series in an episode titled "Huggbees"?

Answer: Teen Titans Go!

Freakazoid, Cosgrove and The Lobe (and their original voice actors) made guest appearances in the "Teen Titans Go!" episode "Huggbees", which first aired in November, 2020. The name of the title was inspired by a season two episode of "Freakazoid!" titled "A Matter of Love".

In the opening, the narrator stated that the episode would be dedicated to "Mrs. Ashley Huggbees of Fullers Earth, Arizona, because we really like saying Huggbees." Shouting out "Huggbees!" became a running gag for the remainder the episode.
