1. According to the Bible, who chose the name of Jesus?

Answer: An angel

Mary and Joseph were engaged and were going to get married. One day she received a visit from the angel Gabriel and was told that she was expecting a child of the Holy Spirit. Joseph, who was Mary's fiance, dreamed of an angel who said that he should marry Mary and that the child she was expecting was a child of the Holy Spirit and that he should be called "Jesus", a Hebrew name meaning savior. What is the meaning of your name?
2. In what city was Jesus born, according to the Bible?

Answer: In Bethlehem

The Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus ordered a census (population count) to be carried out and warned that everyone should follow a rule: to register, people had to be in their family's place of origin. Joseph and Mary used to live in Nazareth, but as Joseph' family was from Bethlehem they had to travel there to be part of the census.

After a long journey they arrived in Bethlehem and soon after they arrived Jesus was born. Do you know in which city you were born?
3. Where does the Bible say Mary and Joseph were when Jesus was born?

Answer: In a stable

When Joseph and Mary arrived in Bethlehem there was no place in hotels, inns and houses where they could stay. Finally, faced with the possibility that the baby would be born at any time the innkeeper suggested that they stay in the stable with the animals, which was a warm place. That same night Mary gave birth to Jesus in the stable. Do you know where you were born?
4. What did the Wise Men follow to reach the place where Jesus was born?

Answer: A star

The Magi, also known as Wise Men, according to Christian tradition, came from the East, guided by a star, to pay homage to the newborn. They are mentioned in the Gospel according to Matthew, where it is not specified if they were kings, how many there were or their names.

However, traditionally it is said that they were three kings, whose names were Melchior, Balthazar and Gaspar. Do you know what people came to visit you when you were born?
5. What does the Bible say the Wise Men gave Jesus?

Answer: Gold, myrrh and incense

The Wise Men gave to the newborn gold, incense and myrrh. All gifts had a special meaning, gold being a gift given to kings, the incense for perfume, and the myrrh as an ointment for the baby. Do you know if you were given any presents when you were born?
6. Joseph and Mary, soon after the visit of the Wise Men, decided to go with Jesus to Egypt instead of returning to Nazareth. Why does the Bible say the family went to Egypt?

Answer: To escape from King Herod who decided to kill the newborns

Shortly after the visit of the Wise Men, Joseph was told in a dream that he should go to Egypt, taking his wife and child. The fact is that Herod, the ruler of Judea, knowing that a new king had been born and fearing for his position, ordered the killing of all boys under the age of two.

The family went to Egypt and stayed there until Joseph in a dream received a message that they could return to Nazareth because Herod had died. What is the first trip you remember taking?
7. Where does the Bible record that Jesus was baptized?

Answer: In the Jordan River

Jesus' baptism was one of the greatest events in his life. According to the Gospels, when Jesus was almost 30 years old, he saw John the Baptist baptizing people in the River Jordan. Jesus asked John to baptize him too. John was reluctant but Jesus convinced him that baptism was a necessary act to fulfill God's desire.

As he was baptized, Jesus emerged from the water of the Jordan River, the sky opened up. A dove representing God's spirit alighted on Jesus and a voice said, "This is my own dear son with whom I am pleased". Were you baptized?
8. One day Jesus spent several hours speaking to a large crowd. By dusk they were all hungry and there was no food to share. Then a boy offered Jesus his own lunch. According to the Gospel of John, what did the boy give to Jesus?

Answer: Five loaves and two fish

One day Jesus was teaching a crowd. At nightfall the disciples told Jesus that it would be better to disperse the people because they were hungry and there was no food available. Jesus did not think that was the right idea and asked if there was any food.

A boy approached and delivered his lunch to Jesus: 5 loaves and two fish. Many found the boy's attitude ridiculous as there were about 5,000 people to be fed. On this occasion the miracle of multiplication took place. Jesus broke the loaves and fish, distributed them, and everyone was fed. What is your favorite food?
9. Jesus had many followers and chose 12 friends who were called apostles. What was the role of the apostles?

Answer: Help him spread his teachings.

Jesus chose 12 friends to be his apostles. The apostles received special teachings and had the mission to spread the gospel. During the 1st century AD the apostles traveled to establish churches throughout the Roman Empire, Middle East, Africa and India. Do you have friends that can help you?
10. In this quiz, the boy whose life and teachings are described in the Gospels was called Jesus. What was his full name?

Answer: Only Jesus; at that time people didn't have a surname

At that time the Jews commonly had only one name. But when the person needed to be well identified, the name of the father or family, the name of the profession or the name of the city of origin was added. Jesus was called Jesus son of Joseph, Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus the Nazarene.

When he died he was called Jesus Christ; christ was not a name but a Greek word, christos, which in Hebrew means messiah, "the anointed one", the chosen one. What is your full name?
