Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The incantation Morsmordre is French. What does it mean?

Answer: Take a bite out of death

This is very fitting as the Death Eaters are the ones who cast it.
2. What is the difference between Hogwarts and Durmstrang when it comes to the Dark Arts?

Answer: Hogwarts is taught Defense Against the Dark Arts, Durmstrang is taught the Dark Arts

Headmaster Igor Kararoff, being a Death Eater, has a bit of an influence on this subject, but it is a contributing factor, not the primary difference between the two schools.
3. Grindylows (little evil waterdemons) are called Jenny Greenteeth around Lancashire, England. True or False?

Answer: True

Not only Jenny Greenteeth, but they are also called Nellie Long-Arms.
4. Malfoy comes from what Latin word, and what does it mean?

Answer: Maleficus, Evil doer

This fits nicely as the Malfoys are regularly engaged in evil actions. There is also a possible link with the French phrase 'mal foi', meaning bad faith.
5. Lupin (as in Professor Remus Lupin) comes from the Latin word Lupus, meaning:

Answer: Wolf

Fits wonderfully as Lupin is a Werewolf. His first name also has some background to it. Legendary founders of Rome, twin brothers Romulus and Remus, were suckled by a wolf.
6. What is the correct order of colors unicorns turn while growing up?

Answer: Pure gold, silver, pure white.

When Unicorn foals are young they are a pure gold. They do not turn silver until they are about two years of age and become pure white when they are mature.
7. What does Dumbledore's first name Albus mean?

Answer: White

His first name, Albus, is Latin, and his last name comes from an old English word for bumble bee. J.K Rowling said she 'liked the idea that this music-lover might absent-mindedly hum to himself.'
8. Where did the Killing Curse, Avada Kedevra, come from?

Answer: The Aramaic word abhadda kedhabhra

Aramaic is a Middle Eastern language and "abhadda kedhabhra" means "disappear like this word". It was used by ancient wizards to get rid of illnesses.
9. What do Flitwick, Snape, Bagshot and Dursley all have in common?

Answer: They are all names of towns in England.

Bagshot (Bathilda Bagshot, author of "A History of Magic") is a town near London; Dursley (Harry's Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and Cousin,Dudley) is a town near Rowling's birthplace; Flitwick (Professor Fillius Flitwick, Charms teacher) and Snape (Professor Severus Snape, Potions teacher) are other towns in England.
10. Where does the name Narcissa (Draco's mom) come from?

Answer: A Greek myth

It comes from the Greek myth about a man named Narcissus. He was very vain and was cursed by a god to fall in love with himself. He is so rapt in his own reflection that he wastes away and dies, unable to tear himself away.
