Question 1 of 10
1. "Look not up, nor to the four main points, but where our paws do tread, the dead oak joints. There wrought by mother nature 'neath the main lies that which holds the beauty and the bane." Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. "I shed my second tear into the cup of cheer, but look not into any cup the answer's written here! My first is in blood and also in battle, my second in acorn, oak, and apple, my third and fourth are both the same together in sorrow and twice in refrain, my fifth starts eternity ending here, my last is the first of last. Oh dear! If I told you the answer then you would know twas made in the winter of deepest snow." Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. "Inside the outer wall I lie, without me you would surely die. I am not earth nor am I stone, no shape at all to call my own, not bird nor beast or flower or tree, yet captives live within me free!" Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. "My fourth tear I shed for the Abbey Redwall, laid where it never should hatch or fall. Below the mouth of a mouse looking south, all in a deserted dwelling. So sit o'er the maidenhair, gaze up north, and solve what my next words are telling. Put a home with our Abbey Warrior, North East, South at the start, then to complete this riddle add the last thing in 'my heart'." Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. "For you my old friend Higgle, I shed a single tear, the kindness oft showed me, your food and smiling cheer. Go find my gift good friar, this tear is given free, not hid away in secret, but there for all to see!" Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. "There is a warrior, where is his sword? Peace did he bring, the fighting lord. Shed for him is my fifth tear. Find it in the title here, written in but a single word, an eye is an eye, until it is heard." Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. "My sixth and last tear I give unto you, when Redwallers lie abed, at midnight see, in full moon view, the purple arrowhead. Travel East, six rods from the tip, to the rose that blooms ever fair, see if you can find the right hip, turn West and your halfway there." Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Who was the abbot of Redwall during this book? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Who was the young heroine in this book? Hint

Question 10 of 10

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Look not up, nor to the four main points, but where our paws do tread, the dead oak joints. There wrought by mother nature 'neath the main lies that which holds the beauty and the bane."

Answer: Attics

Fermald did not like living near other beasts, so she lived up in the attics. This pearl was hidden under her armchair in a secret compartment.
Oh dear! If I told you the answer then you would know twas made in the winter of deepest snow."

Answer: Barrel

This very confusing riddle was solved by Piknim and Cracklyn. It was hidden in a barrel of rhubarb wine which was made by Ambrose Spike.
3. "Inside the outer wall I lie, without me you would surely die. I am not earth nor am I stone, no shape at all to call my own, not bird nor beast or flower or tree, yet captives live within me free!"

Answer: The Abbey Pond

This pearl was difficult to get, as it was hidden in the skeleton of a dead fish. It was guarded by another fish and it took the cooperation of many beasts to get this pearl.
4. "My fourth tear I shed for the Abbey Redwall, laid where it never should hatch or fall. Below the mouth of a mouse looking south, all in a deserted dwelling. So sit o'er the maidenhair, gaze up north, and solve what my next words are telling. Put a home with our Abbey Warrior, North East, South at the start, then to complete this riddle add the last thing in 'my heart'."

Answer: Saint Ninian's Church

This riddle was very costly to solve, as it cost the life of Piknim the mouse-maid and almost those of Tansy and Cracklyn.
5. "For you my old friend Higgle, I shed a single tear, the kindness oft showed me, your food and smiling cheer. Go find my gift good friar, this tear is given free, not hid away in secret, but there for all to see!"

Answer: Candle Wax

This pearl was found accidentally by Tansy because the candle was knocked over by Clecky.
6. "There is a warrior, where is his sword? Peace did he bring, the fighting lord. Shed for him is my fifth tear. Find it in the title here, written in but a single word, an eye is an eye, until it is heard."

Answer: The Tapestry

This pearl was found by Arven the squirrel babe right under the dot of the 'i' in Martin.
7. "My sixth and last tear I give unto you, when Redwallers lie abed, at midnight see, in full moon view, the purple arrowhead. Travel East, six rods from the tip, to the rose that blooms ever fair, see if you can find the right hip, turn West and your halfway there."

Answer: The Wall

Because this was Fermald's last pearl, she made it very difficult to find. The purple arrowhead was a beast's tail in the light of a stained glass window. The rod was Fermald's fishing rod. The rose that blooms ever fair was a small drawing of a rose.

The right hip was one of the rose hips; the other half was a mason bee. One of these bees was guarding the last pearl in the wall. It was found by Arven.
8. Who was the abbot of Redwall during this book?

Answer: Durral

Mordalfus, better known as Alf, was the abbot in Mattimeo. Apodemus was the abbot in Triss, and Russano was a Badger Lord of Salamandastron.
9. Who was the young heroine in this book?

Answer: Tansy

Tansy was a young hedgehog maid who was respected by her elders. She was one of the few young beasts allowed outside of the walls without an elder.
10. In this book, Grath Longfletch's arrows became a sign of dread to the vermin she came into contact with. What color of feathers did she use to fletch her arrows?

Answer: Green

She took the feathers from a dead bird whom she found dead on the shore.
