3. On a long-running TV sitcom, what "macho man" character, husband and father of three boys liked nothing better than "tweaking" household appliances with his power tools, making grunting noises and working on restoring classic cars?

Answer: Tim Taylor

Stand-up comic Tim Allen brought his brand of macho humor to TV in the sitcom "Home Improvement" where he portrayed a loving but stubborn husband and father of three boys (Brad, Randy and Mark). His over-the-top male attitudes always landed him in hot water with his wife Jill (Patricia Richardson), making it necessary to often seek advice from his philosophical neighbor Wilson (Earl Hindman).
4. This TV dad is very animated, both literally and figuratively. Due to both his stubborn nature and challenged mentality, he gets in and out of improbable situations in every episode. His wife has red hair, and he has two sons and a daughter. Who is this unbelievable nincompoop of a dad?

Answer: Peter Griffin

On the animated TV show "Family Guy", Peter (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) is the incredibly stupid and ill-advised head of the Griffin household. His wife, Lois, and dog, Brian, help to keep things on a more even keel as Peter flits from one crazy undertaking to another - like the time he used razor blades taped to an electric fan as a shaver. If you were thinking of Homer Simpson, his wife has blue hair and he has a son and two daughters.
5. This Biblical father had twelve sons and a daughter that caused a lot of trouble in his family. However, one son, who lived in a foreign land, made good for himself. Who was this prolifically productive patriarch?

Answer: Jacob

Jacob (a.k.a. Israel) had twelve sons and a daughter, Dinah, from two wives and two handmaids. The sons seemed a rather hot-headed lot. Firstly, two of them (Simeon and Levi) killed all the men in the town of Shechem because one of the men raped their sister (Genesis 34).

Then they all conspired to sell their brother Joseph into slavery because they were jealous of their father's apparent favoritism towards him. Joseph eventually turned the tables on them, becoming an important ruler in Egypt.
6. This famous actor has a daughter and son who are also actors. The father and daughter have both won Oscars. Who is this famous acting father?

Answer: Henry Fonda

Amazingly, although nominated three times, Henry Fonda only won one Academy Award for his last film "On Golden Pond" (1981). His daughter Jane won Oscars for "Klute" and "Coming Home." Peter was nominated, but didn't win, for acting in "Ulee's Gold" and the screenplay for "Easy Rider".
7. This piano-playing dad was very popular in the 1940s. His son is also a noted pianist. Who was the talented piano-tickling father?

Answer: Eddy Duchin

The subject of the 1956 movie "The Eddy Duchin Story", the Duchins were talented popular and classical pianists. Tyrone Power portrayed Eddy in the biopic, but the piano playing on the soundtrack was performed by Carmen Cavallaro. Unfortunately, Eddy died of leukemia in 1951 at age 41.

His son, Peter, became a popular high-society musician and bandleader in the 1960s and was also the musical director of President Lyndon Johnson's inauguration. He has also written a series of mystery novels.
8. In the 1967 movie "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner", what renowned actor plays an upper-class father who must re-think his personal philosophy when his daughter brings home her black fiancé?

Answer: Spencer Tracy

This was Tracy's final film. He co-starred with his long-time acting partner Katherine Hepburn while Sidney Poitier portrayed their daughter's boyfriend. Tracy passed away 17 days after shooting his last scene. He was nominated for an Academy Award posthumously, but lost to Rod Steiger that year.
