She has won numerous Emmy Awards and one of thOse included her role as Rose Nylund in the TV series "The Golden Girls" (1985-1992). The character Rose Nylund was a Norwegian American from a small town in Minnesota. Throughout the series she told humorous and sometimes peculiar stories about growing up in a small country town.

In 1955 Betty White received the honorary title of Mayor of Hollywood.

The song "The Rose" was recorded by Conway Twitty (1933-1993) and it reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Hits in March, 1983. However, the first recording of the song, written by Amanda McBroom, was by Bette Midler as a soundtrack for the 1979 movie "The Rose".
