Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Model of Messerschmitt plane used by the Luftwaffe during World War II

Answer: 410

Over 1100 Messerschmitt Me 410s were built between 1943 and 1944, but today only two original models survive. One is owned by the American National Air and Space Museum while the other is on display at the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford in Shropshire.
The Me 410 had a top speed of 507 kmh (315 mph, 274 kn) at sea level and was armed with two MG 17 machine guns and two MG 151/20 cannons, all forward firing as well as two MG 131 rearward firing machine guns.
2. Will Ferguson novel, winner of the 2012 Scotiabank Giller Prize

Answer: 419

"419" is a great read and concerns a retired school teacher who is conned by an advance-fee fraud scam, also known as a "Nigerian prince scam". The title of the book refers to the section of the Nigerian Criminal Code which deals with fraud and the charges and penalties for offenders.
3. Card game similar to Spades

Answer: 400

400 is a very popular game in Lebanon, Syria and Philippines. It is a game for four players and involves bidding on and winning tricks. Each bid has a set points value from minus two to 27, and the object of the game is to amass 41 points.
4. An international counter culture day, popular among cannabis users

Answer: 420

April 20th (4/20 in American form) is celebrated by cannabis users throughout the world, but its origins are found in the time 4:20 pm rather than the date. In 1971, a group of high school students in San Rafael, California used to meet at the Louis Pasteur statue on the campus grounds before searching for an alleged abandoned cannabis crop.

This gave rise to the phrase 420 Louis, which was over time shortened to 420. The 420 holiday didn't make an appearance until 1991, but is now viewed as an important day within cannabis culture to gather and celebrate the plant, as well as smoke a few bowls.
5. The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) code for "Not Found"

Answer: 404

"404 Error, Page Not Found" is an HTTP code that the majority of us have seen at some point. It is generated when a user attempts to follow a broken link and indicates that although the required server was found, the server is not able to retrieve the required page.
6. Minimum length in yards of a par five hole in men's golf

Answer: 470

While 470 yards is the minimum length for a par five in men's golf, the distance is slightly shorter for the ladies game at 400 yards.
The longest par five hole on a professional golf course is the monster 773 yard 13th at TPC Colorado.
7. Slang term for gossip

Answer: 411

"What's the 411?" is a phrase that seems to have been used in every teen drama at some point as a request for information or gossip. The phrase has its origins in the fact that 411 is the telephone number for local directory assistance in Canada and the USA. In UK, the number for directory enquiries is 192, but the phrase, "What's the 192?" has never taken off.
8. A perfect score in Canadian five pin bowling

Answer: 450

Canadian five pin bowling is unique in that the five pins have different point values. The centre pin is worth five points, those on either side of it are worth three points each, and the outermost pins, two points each, meaning that a total of 15 points can be scored in each frame. Each bowler has three balls per frame and the scoring for strikes and spares means that a perfect score, requiring 12 consecutive strikes, adds up to 450 points.

This is a rare occurrence however, with the governing body, the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association (C5PBA) sanctioning only between 15 and 30 perfect games each year.
9. Peugeot car which was awarded Car of the Year by "What Car?" magazine in 1997

Answer: 406

The Peugeot 406 was hugely successful for the company in Europe, especially so in UK and its native France. In 2002, a Peugeot 406 HDi set the world record for the longest distance driven on a single tank of fuel, when John Taylor drove it from Melbourne to Rockhampton, a total distance of 2348.3km (1459 miles).
10. The number of squares on a Super Scrabble board

Answer: 441

While regular Scrabble is played over 225 squares on a 15 x 15 board, Super Scrabble takes the game to a new level with 441 squares on a 21 x 21 board. There are also double the number of letter tiles and Super Scrabble also features quadruple letter and word squares.
