Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these vacation destinations is in the Caribbean?

Answer: Saint Lucia

Found in the Eastern Caribbean, the island of Saint Lucia is an English-speaking nation in the West Indies. Saint Lucia also has a significant history of French colonization; much of the country also speaks a specific dialect of Creole. Visitors heading there wouldn't only find ports of call for cruise ships and beautiful sandy beaches, but active volcanic sites. Getting around the island means traversing picturesque, rainforest-laden mountains and circling open bays.

It's nothing short of idyllic.
2. In what video game world would you be able to visit Kokiri Forest and Kakariko Village?

Answer: Hyrule

Found in the "Legend of Zelda" series, you'd be able to encounter both of these famous locations in "Ocarina of Time", a game originally released on the Nintendo 64 console in 1998. One of the top-rated games of its generation, it allowed you to play as Link as he navigated the land of Hyrule as both a child and an adult with the aim of stopping the evil Gerudo antagonist Ganondorf. Hyrule appears in several games in the series including "Twilight Princess" and "Breath of the Wild".
3. What is the home planet of the Na'vi as seen in James Cameron's 2009 film "Avatar"?

Answer: Pandora

A science fiction epic from the mind of "Titanic" director James Cameron, "Avatar" was, at one point, the top-grossing movie ever to release in cinemas, raking in $2.9 billion in the box office and poising itself for countless nominations during award season.

The film, set on the distant planet of Pandora, regarded human interference in a world of natural wonder populated by the blue-skinned Na'vi. While humans sought to exploit the planet's natural resources, some fought back. The world seen in the film was inspired by the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Huangshan Mountains and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, both in China.
4. What destination lies between the islands of Lombok and Java?

Answer: Bali

One of the premier destinations for travellers looking for relaxation in Southeast Asia, the island of Bali is Indonesia's tourist hub partly due to its beautiful coasts and rainforests, but also because of its significant cultural influence. Emerging as a top spot for travellers seeking relaxation and spiritual pursuit, its ornate temples, simplistic accoutrements, and general aesthetic allowed it to become a contender for some of the most desired vacations in the 2010s.
5. Which of these is the final destination of 'The One Ring' in J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings"?

Answer: Mount Doom

Not reached until closer to the end of "Return of the King", Mount Doom is the last stop for Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee as they end up being the last members of the Fellowship to make it to the end of their journey to destroy the 'One Ring to Rule them All'.

They aren't the only ones to reach it either; Gollum, the previous owner of the ring, perishes with it in the lava below. Mount Doom, located in Mordor, is adjacent to Sauron's Tower and the fortress of Barad-dûr.
6. You can catch up to 150 different Pokemon in which of these locations named after a region on the Japanese island of Honshu?

Answer: Kanto

Kanto is the first in a series of lands covered in Pokemon (and you've just gotta catch 'em all) in the "Pokemon" video game series first released in the late 1990s. Later worlds visited in the games (including Johto, Sinnoh, Alola, and others) were based less on the original destination (Honshu, Japan) and more on different world regions. Johto is based on the Kansai region of Japan; Sinnoh was based on Hokkaido; Alola was based on Hawai'i.
7. In the 1997 film "The Fifth Element", Corbin Dallas needed to head to which of these vacation destinations in pursuit of the stones needed to save Earth?

Answer: Fhloston

As an awful evil hurtles towards Earth in this 1997 Luc Besson film, Corbin Dallas heads, along with Leeloo, to Fhloston Paradise, an interstellar cruise ship floating in the waters of Fhloston, to find the elements needed to save humanity. What he finds there is a vacation destination of extravagance and excess and, to his surprise, four of the elements located inside the body of an opera singer; the fifth element is within him and Leeloo themselves. Fhloston Paradise is destroyed by a bomb towards the end of their time there.
8. Which of these destinations is NOT in the French Riviera?

Answer: Marseilles

A beautiful stretch of coastal resorts and cities along France's southern edge with the Mediterranean, the French Riviera has long been considered a destination for the elite, being home to several of the more expensive homes and hotels of the continent. Stretching from Saint-Tropez to the Italian border, it also includes the film festival city of Cannes and the Principality of Monaco, one of the most expensive destinations to stay anywhere on the globe.

It's also known as the Côte d'Azur.
9. What fantasy destination is accessed via a picture, using magic rings, and through a wardrobe?

Answer: Narnia

First seen in "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in 1950, Narnia was a mystical world visited by the Pevensie children through an old wardrobe in their Uncle Digory's country mansion. The land would be visited on several separate occasions in the series, often with different combinations of the children and their relatives. Lucy, Edmund, and cousin Eustace enter Narnia through a painting of a sailing ship in "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" while Digory and his friend, Polly, enter Narnia through portals activated by magic rings in a prequel, "The Magician's Nephew".
10. Though mostly filmed in California, what fictional destination was allegedly "five miles south of the Canadian border, and twelve miles west of the [Washington-Idaho] state line"?

Answer: Twin Peaks

First appearing in David Lynch's 1990 drama, Twin Peaks was the backdrop to an avant-garde soap opera done in only the way David Lynch could do. All of the exterior shots of the setting were filmed in Washington, but the show was primarily shot near Los Angeles.

In the show, the residents of Twin Peaks lived their lives after the death of local girl Laura Palmer, but after the solving of her murder in the show's second season, it appeared that much more uncanny events would only continue to unfold in the townspeople's goings-on.
