It was in 1934 that Egypt made it through the qualifiers to the final rounds in the World Cup, which was hosted by Italy. They were beaten by Hungary, with a final score of 4-2.
3. The movement of the second hand of a Rolex watch "ticks".

Answer: False

Rolex was founded in 1905 by two men, Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis, who were brothers-in-law. In the beginning, the company was named after the two men - Wilsdorf and Davis, but was later changed to the name we recognise today.
In actual fact, the second hand has a smooth motion, as it sweeps around the face of the watch. This can be used as an indication as to whether the watch is a fake or not.
4. During the construction of the Preston bypass, what item made its first appearance on UK shores?

Answer: Traffic cones

The Preston bypass opened in 1958. The new cones, invented by Charles P Rudabaker, were used to replace the red paraffin lanterns that they used previously.
5. Which electrical company originally began life being called 'Totsuken'?

Answer: Sony

The founder, Masaru Ibuka, of Sony, or Totsuken (Tokyo Telecommunications Research Institute) began the company in 1945 after World War II ended. They were able to repair radios. This was in high demand after the war because an enormous portion of radios had been either damaged directly due to the war, or disabled by the military police.
The name 'Sony', was a word that the founders made up, it is a mixture of the Latin word, sonus, meaning sonic, and some colloquial Japanese, "sonny-boys", which referred to the whiz-kids of the time.
6. There is a town in California USA named after the fictional character Tarzan, but what is the name of this town?

Answer: Tarzana

The author of the "Tarzan" books, Edgar Rice Burroughs, bought land and built a large house on it, which he called "Tarzana Ranch". When he later sold off the land, the residents who set up home there named the town Tarzana after the author and his world famous character.

Hefner was quoted as saying "I would be delighted to invite both President Bush and Senator Kerry for a family reunion".
9. A carat, the unit of measurement used for determining the weight of gemstones like diamonds, is based on the weight of what?

Answer: Carob seed
