Question 1 of 10
1. I first thought my last name was Germanic, and its root is; but I always thought my paternal ancestors were German. They're not, they're Welsh. I couldn't believe it at the time. My paternal family comes from an ancient place called the Kingdom of Gwent in Wales, UK. They were Kings and Queens of Gwent. Oh, how the mighty fall.

What is Gwent called today?
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. I was born in a tree. No, not really. But the name of the city I was born in is the name of a tree. This city is the only city in the entire county where the Suwannee River State Park is located.

What tree...I mean city was I born in?
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. The year Elvis Presley died on a toilet is the same year I was born. What year was that? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. While I was born in a tree, I did not grow up in a tree. I grew up in a river in Tennessee placed in Orange County, Florida. Probably not a good enough clue to most so I'll give another: it's a part of the Orlando Metropolitan area.

What 'river' did I grow up in?
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. I never graduated high school. Never got my GED. Never went to college. I wanted to join the U.S. Navy but I failed the physical and a portion of the ASVAB. I had no recognised skills or education for the adult world. The reason (minus the physical) I didn't get any of those things wasn't because I didn't try but because I found way too late that I have a psychological disability. Apparently I have a disability when concerning maths and spatial reasoning.

What disability do I have?
Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. I've had many jobs in my life. I've had so many because I'm stubborn, opinionated, aggressive, in-your-face type person and I dislike it when employers treat their employees as if they're worth nothing. People like me do not tend to stay in one job for long. I had no clue what I wanted to do when I found out I couldn't join the U.S. Navy.

I did find a job I was really good at but I had to do it voluntarily because it required at the least a Master's degree which I couldn't get because of my Dyscalculia (which I didn't know I had at that time period.) I did it voluntarily for many online websites. It's difficult to define without giving away the answer, however, one would be viewing and/or reading a lot of old/new journals, newspapers, books, pamphlets, magazines in concern to certain writings and people agglomerated to those specific things.

What voluntary job did I do for some websites online?
Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. One of my hobbies I've been doing since I was 16 years old. I wasn't any good at it back then; actually I'm probably not good at it now. It depends on who you are, I guess. I like to write. I have anger issues stemming from a not so happy childhood and writing helps. I first started writing short stories when I was 12-13 years old but when I turned 16 I thought I'd take a crack at writing like Alexander Pope or Heinrich Heine.

What did Pope and Heine mainly write?
Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. I used to collect baseball cards as a kid. I had thousands of them. I stopped collecting them because I found out later, when I got older, they're just not worth the cost. I moved into collecting something else. Like Funtrivia, it's something that helps keep me calm. I have anger issues that I deal with on my own. I have over 4,000 of this variant item. Most of it is on disc but my digital library is starting to grow. They're types of stories with people playing parts in moving photography.

What am I talking about?
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. I had a rough childhood. Other kids would pick on me, even some adults would join in because I was different. A type of intimidation because I was poor, and sensitive to certain situations. What's that typically called? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. My nickname is 'Nam'. I use 'Nammage' as a default when 'Nam' is taken. My middle name, however, is defined as a room at the very top of a house. In French it comes from a word that means "Watchtower" and a form of the name 'Gerald'. What's my middle name? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Monmouthshire

Monmouthshire in Welsh is 'Sir Fynwy'. Gwent (Kingdom of Gwent, Old Welsh 'Guent') was an ancient medieval kingdom in Wales. It was the first kingdom to fall to the Norman Conquest in the 11th Century. I'm related to the Caradogs. Some historians in the 18th Century consider Athrwys ap Meurig (c. 605-655) to be one of the possibilities of the historic King Arthur but most other historians disagree.

There's still, technically, a Gwent County in Wales, it is based on the Ancient Kingdom of Wales but wasn't created until 1974 under a local government act in 1972. Then in 1996 it was abolished as a County, ironically going into effect on April 1st (April Fool's Day in some places around the world.) Some people use the name as if it is still Monmouthshire or aligned with it, it is not. It is an 'historic county' that has no power whatsoever. It's what's called "a preserved county". They are for ceremonial purposes only.
2. I was born in a tree. No, not really. But the name of the city I was born in is the name of a tree. This city is the only city in the entire county where the Suwannee River State Park is located. What tree...I mean city was I born in?

Answer: Live Oak

Live Oak is the county seat of Suwannee County, Florida. It was first incorporated in 1878 as a town and in 1903 as a city. The city and surrounding area had thousands of visitors each year in the early 20th century but waned off when the nearby springs-which were said to have healing powers-didn't heal anyone and also with the population growth of Central and South Florida. Today it's primarily a farming community that is home to the Suwannee River State Park and Festival Grounds.

The population, as of 2018, is a little less than 7,000. Suwannee County's population, as of 2010, is a little less than 42,000.
3. The year Elvis Presley died on a toilet is the same year I was born. What year was that?

Answer: 1977

1977 was a year of births, such as: the actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, the actor Orlando Bloom, the actress Kerry Washington, singer Shakira and Daddy Yankee, actor James Van Der Beek, actor/talk show host John Oliver, actor Kal Penn, Tom Welling, Melanie Lynskey and many, many others.

Also a year of deaths like Elvis Presley. There's also actors Freddie Prinze; Peter Finch; writer Anaïs Nin; Queen of Jordan Alia Al-Hussein; actor/comedians Gummo Marx and Groucho Marx; actress Joan Crawford; film Director William Castle; actor Bing Crosby; three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd: Ronnie Van Zant, Cassie and Steve Gaines; and actor Charlie Chaplin and many, many others.

Events: snow fell in Miami, Florida; Jimmy Carter is sworn in as the 39th President of the United States; the rings of Uranus are discovered; "Stars Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" debuts in theaters; David Berkowitz is arrested and many other notable things.
4. While I was born in a tree, I did not grow up in a tree. I grew up in a river in Tennessee placed in Orange County, Florida. Probably not a good enough clue to most so I'll give another: it's a part of the Orlando Metropolitan area. What 'river' did I grow up in?

Answer: Ocoee

Ocoee, Florida is named after a river in Tennessee which is also known as Toccoa River. Ocoee may have its etymology by way of Cherokee (originally spelled 'Ocowee') for the Purple Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata). Ocoee is a fast growing city. I lived there from 1981-1996 then 1998-2012.

In 1981 it had a population of just over 7,000 whereas today its population (as of 2018) is just under 48,000. It's partially home to the Orlando Auto Auction (sharing with Winter Garden, Florida) where most car dealers throughout the state get their vehicles.

Answer: Dyscalculia

I found out that I have Dyscalculia when I was between 30 and 32 years old. When growing up I was always told I wasn't trying hard enough or since I got good grades in other subjects that I was purposely failing Math as an act of defiance. By the time I was in Middle School (Junior High) I was despondent to most or all of my classes. I took exams (which was the grade that mattered) but mainly slept in all my classes. This, as I was told, was normal behavior for students in school systems that either do not know what's wrong with the student or don't care what's wrong with the student. I went through the latter. Almost everything I know today, I taught myself.

Dyscalculia is defined as a learning disability in comprehension of arithmetic in the performance of calculating, manipulation, and understanding numbers. "Math dyslexia" is sometimes used as a synonym of Dyscalculia but Dyscalculia has other attributes, as well, such as spatial reasoning.

Answer: Literary Research

Literary Researchers typically research books etc., for new things. In college they study Literature (usually the literature of their home country.) Typically one needs a Master's or PhD in Literature to get a job as a Literary Researcher.

Answer: Poetry

Poetry comes in many forms. Its purpose is to express feelings but can be used to display many types of other aspects of life. Poetry dates back to prehistoric Africa. Before it was written it was spoken and/or sung as a way to record one's history. The oldest surviving epic poem is "Epic of Gilgamesh" dating from 3000-2000 BCE.

Answer: Movies

The first movie/film ever made is "Roundhay Garden Scene" (1888). Some dispute that and state that "The Horse in Motion" from 1878 is the first movie/film ever made but "The Horse in Motion" is made from cabinet cards (a thin photograph placed on cards) as Chronophotography. "Roundhay Garden Scene" is actually made from film which was invented by Thomas Edison and Eadweard Muybridge.

Others have argued that actual films, or what some would consider to be films, weren't really invented until 1900.
9. I had a rough childhood. Other kids would pick on me, even some adults would join in because I was different. A type of intimidation because I was poor, and sensitive to certain situations. What's that typically called?

Answer: Bullying

Did you know that the original meaning of "bullying" meant "sweetheart" in the 16th century? It comes from the Dutch. It wasn't until the 18th century that it began to have a negative connotation. Studies have shown that the two main components of bullying may come from envy and resentment.
10. My nickname is 'Nam'. I use 'Nammage' as a default when 'Nam' is taken. My middle name, however, is defined as a room at the very top of a house. In French it comes from a word that means "Watchtower" and a form of the name 'Gerald'. What's my middle name?

Answer: Garrett

A "garret" is a habitable attic. Before the advent of the elevator, garrets were viewed as the least desirable location. Claustrophobia anyone? Thomas Chatterton, English poet, committed suicide in a garret.
