John Fitch created the first steam engine in America. His efforts failed and he went out of business, later replaced by Robert Fulton. Daniel Webster also ran for president (and lost) three times as well.
10. What did Norbert Rillieux invent?

Answer: A machine that cooked sugar in closed vats under low air pressure

Norbert Rillieux's techniques are still used in many factories today. Before his invention was made, the process of boiling sugar cane was very dangerous because you had to move the hot liquids from vat to vat.
