Answer: Sea King

This ship was originally called the Sea King and was origanally launched at Glasgow in Scotland in August 1863 as a civilian steamer, which the Confederate navy secretly purchased. It became the C.S.S Shenandoah in October 1864.

Answer: First Lieutenant

When James Iredell Waddell originally boarded the Sea King from the supply ship with which they met at sea off Madeira he was First Lieutenant.

Answer: Australia

The C.S.S Shenandoah arrived in Melbourne, Australia on the 25th of January 1865. 42 crew were added to the short handed crew on this visit. 6 as marine and 36 as seamen

Answer: 24

Between these dates the Shenandoah which was now stateless (although they didn't know it yet) captured 24 vessels, all but a few of these vessels were destroyed as before in 1864. Afterwards they started a slow voyage towards San Francisco, California which Waddell believed would be weakly defended against their guns.
6. What rumor was the Shenandoah's late June attack on the Whaling fleet accompanied by?

Answer: The Civil War's end

The rumors accompanying the attack were of the Civil War's end. The Confederacy had in fact collapsed around April or May but the Shenandoah did not receive a firm report until August when they encountered an English mailing ship which had left San Fransisco two weeks earlier.

The Confederacy did ask the English to join on their side but the English had a policy of non interference with other countries' wars. I thought I'd put the one about the Confederate's winning the war for all those who wish it actually happened.
7. After receiving the news about the Civil War's end where did the C.S.S Shenandoah head for?

Answer: Britain

Although originally the Shenandoah was going to go to Capetown it was later decided to head for England.The Shenandoah headed for England and, arriving in Liverpool in November, 1865, became the only Confederate Ship to circumnavigate the globe. They surrendered themselves up to the Brithish Authorities at Liverpool on November 6 1865. According to the Naval Historical Centre Shenandoah page the particular authority was the Royal Navy (HMS Donegal). All crew being paroled and released.
8. Who was the Shenandoah sold to after it had been disarmed?

Answer: Sultan of Zanzibar

It was sold to the Sultan of Zanzibar and renamed El Majidi. It was reported lost at sea between 1872 and 1879.It was the United States of America who sold it.

Answer: El Majidi

Although the CSS Shenandoah surrendered to the Royal Navy the US Government sailed it to America but it was damaged in a storm in the Channel and then sailed to Liverpool.It was renamed El Majidi the other names I just made up.

Answer: lost at sea

The El Majidi was reported to have been lost between 1872 and 1879 by various sources.
