In the Borders, the war between the Scots and English turned into a personal feud between the families of Douglas, from Scotland and Percy, from England. This battle became famous because it was won by a dead man. When Douglas, the Scottish leader, became mortally wounded he was worried that his death would encourage the English so he ordered his men to hide his body beneath a bush so no one could see it.
The Scots won the battle and captured the English leader Henry(Hotspur) Percy. He was directed to the bush where Douglas was lying and surrendered.
2. The "Auld Alliance" of 1295 was a treaty between Scotland and which other country?

Answer: France

The agreement was that if England attacked either France or Scotland, the other country would invade English territory.
3. Who used an arm to bar a door against a King's attackers?

Answer: Kate Barless

Kate Barlass was a servant, she used her arm to keep the door fastened shut in an attempt to save King James I. One of the conspirators had all the bars of the doors removed to allow easy access for the assassins to enter the building. King James fought furiously, but was killed.
