1. Which was the anti-tank weapon whose name can be translated as 'armour fist'?

Answer: Panzerfaust

The Panzerfaust was a one time used as an anti-tank weapon although they arrempted to make a reloadable version. It was built in many variants each usually had the distance of the weapon increased. It was a very simple weapon and production continued in Berlin till the final days of the war.
2. Who designed the TT-33 pistol?

Answer: Fedor Tokarev

The TT-33 was a Soviet pistol and the main sidearm of the Soviets although it never fully replacing the Nagant revolver during WWII. Of the other three, two are German arms makers and George Luger perfected the desgined of the weapon that is known as the Luger today.
3. What was the main Belgian sidearm when the country was invaded in 1940?

Answer: Browning Hi-Power

The Browning (HP) or Hi-Power was designed by John Browning but he died before he could finish the design. The design was finished by a Belgian arms manufacturer. It is still used today, for example, by the Canadian army. It has 15 round magazine but during WWII could only carry seven plus one in the chamber. The Colt M1911 was also designed by John Browning.
4. Who designed the MP38/40? (The MP40 was was a slight redesign).

Answer: Follmer

It is a popular misconception that Schmeisser actually designed the MP38. It was often called Schmeisser by the Allied troops. Schmeisser had produced the magazines for the MP40 which was ingraved on them. Follmer actually designed the weapon. The MP40 was a redesign of the MP38 to save money and increase production.
5. The Polish Ckm wz.30 machine-gun was a copy of which weapon?

Answer: Browning M1917

The .303 Vickers, Schwarzlose M.7/12, and Browning M1917 all took part in testing in Poland during the 1920s. The Browning M1917 won and Poland decided to buy the lincense to build the weapon. When the Poles found out that there was no patent in Poland for the design they proceeded to manufacture it without the license. Unlike the American version, it was chambered with a 7.92mm Mauser round.
6. Which of the following weapons was designed and built in Australia?

Answer: Owen Machine Carbine

The Owen Machine Carbine (more often referred to as the Owen gun) was designed by Evelyn Owen. It saw service during Korea as well as Vietnam.

Answer: SVT-40

The full name of the SVT-40 is Samozaryadnaya Vintovka Tokareva, Obrazets 1940 goda (in English: Tokarev self-loading rifle, model of 1940). It was a semi-automatic rifle (the other three are all bolt action).
8. What round was used to chamber the PTRD-41 and what country did it come from?

Answer: Soviet Union/14.5 x 114 mm

The Soviet PTRD-41 was an anti-tank rifle. It was chambered with the large 14.5 x 114 mm round. It was a bolt operated rifle but it could only carry one round in the weapon, i.e. in the chamber.
9. Type 94 was what kind of weapon?

Answer: pistol

The type 94 was a Japanese sidearm chambered with a 8 mm x 22 mm round. It was a lightweight semiautomatic pistol which was only about 720 grams compared to the Colt 1911 which was about 1,100 grams without the magazine.

Answer: Sten

The weapon was very cheap and easy to manufacture quickly. It also needed fewer raw materials to make than the MP40 which is why it was produced. It was a copy of the British Sten gun.
