Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Continue the lyrics: "Or you may drown. You're living in America, at the end of the millennium. You're living in America where it's..."

Answer: like the twilight zone

"What You Own" is the title of this song and it's sung by Roger and Mark near the end of the show, where they realize that there's no time like the present to do the things that they want (for Mark) and to forget regret (for Roger) or else he'll miss out on happiness (with Mimi).
2. Continue the lyrics: "There's only us, there's only this. Forget regret or life is..."

Answer: yours to miss

I think this a really great line of the song as it embodies the moral of the entire play. Not to mention something that we can apply in our everyday lives. Ok, sorry to get all preach-y there.
3. Continue the lyrics: "Every single day, I walk down the street. I hear people say..."

Answer: baby so sweet

Joanne and Maureen sing this song entitled "Take Me Or Leave Me" which goes "...ever since puberty, everybody stares at me. Boys - girls, I can't, can't help it, baby. So be kind, don't lose your mind. Just remember that I'm your baby. Take me for what I am, who I was meant to be..." I just love this play! And the lyrics of all the songs they have!
4. Who sings the song "The mind churns, the heart yearns, the tears dry. Without you life goes on but I'm gone cause I die..."?

Answer: Roger and Mimi

Very sweet song by Roger and Mimi which they sing after they break up.
5. Who sings the following song and what is the title of said song "But sweet kisses I've got to spare, I'll be there and I'll cover you. Oh I think they meant it, when they said you can't buy love. Now I know you can rent it, a new lease you were, my love, on life. All my life I've longed to discover something as true as this is."? Watch the verb tenses for the clue!

Answer: Collins; I'll Cover You (Reprise)

The original song is sung by Angel and Collins "Now I know you can rent it, a new lease you ARE, my love, on life" while the reprise is sung only by Collins because Angel had died and goes "Now I know you can rent it, a new lease you WERE, my love, on life."
6. What's the title of the song that goes "To hand-crafted beers made in local breweries. To yoga, to yogurt, to rice and beans and cheese, to leather, to dildoes, to curry vindaloo..."?

Answer: La Vie Boheme

Love the song, "La Vie Boheme." The group sings it in the restaurant where Benny and Mr. Grey are eating in a table near them. Mainly, they sing it for the two because they want to convert a certain lot into CyberCafe.
7. Continue the lyrics: "I should tell I blew the candle out just to get back in. I'd forgotten how to smile until your candle..."

Answer: burned my skin

The first sentence is sung by Mimi while the second sentence is sung by Roger in the song "I Should Tell You". They're both scared of a relationship due to past experiences, but they both really like each other and they both know that they have to get over their past traumas in order to be able to have a chance at happiness at their present relationship.
8. What is the title of the first song the cast sings in Act 2? Hint: It goes something like "525600 minutes, 525600 moments so dear, 525600 minutes, how do you measure, measure a year?"

Answer: Seasons of Love

Totally true. And another song that encompasses almost the entire meaning of the play. Way cool song and (I think) the most famous song from this play.
9. Continue the lyrics: "We'll open up a restaurant in..."

Answer: santa fe

Sometimes when you hit rock-bottom, dreams are the only things that get you going.
10. What is the title of the song and who sings it "You'll be my king and I'll be your castle. No you'll be my queen and I'll be your moat..."

Answer: Angel and Collins; I'll Cover You

I think Angel and Collins is very sweet. And a fine relationship example for both heterosexual and homosexual couples.
11. Complete the lyrics: "Today for you - tomorrow for me. We agreed on a fee - a thousand dollars guarantee, tax-free. And a bonus if I ..."

Answer: trim her tree

Angel sings this when she first meets Roger and Mark in their apartment. I remember he/she was wearing a drag Santa outfit with short skirts and really cool shoes.
12. Complete the lyrics: "Has she ever pouted her lips and called you 'Pookie'?..."

Answer: never

"The Tango Maureen" sung by Mark and Joanne while fixing the digital delay of the sound system of Maureen's show.
13. Complete the lyrics: "Because reason says I should have died three years ago ... No other road, no other way..."

Answer: no day but today

From the song "Life Support" at the AIDS meeting that Angel, Collins, and Mark attended.
14. Complete the lyrics: "When I get a wink from the doorman, do you know how lucky you'll be? That you're on line with the feline of Avenue B. Let's go out tonight..."

Answer: I have to go out tonight

Roar! Mimi's a really hot chick. This from the song "Out Tonight" which Mimi sings.
15. Complete the lyrics: "Another time, another place. Our temperature would climb, there'd be a long embrace. We'd do another dance, it'd be another play. Looking for romance..."

Answer: Come back another day

After Mimi sings "Out Tonight", Roger counters her plans for them with the song "Another Day".
16. Complete the lyrics: "The heart may freeze or it can burn. The pain will ease if I can learn there is no future, there is no past..."

Answer: I live this moment as my last

Also from the song "Another Day", Mimi sings this in response to Roger's "Another Day" singing parts, trying to convince him that the present is the more important than clinging on to past fears. Very symbolic although they seem to use simple terms.
17. Complete the lyrics: "Will I lose my dignity? Will someone care? Will I wake tomorrow..."

Answer: from this nightmare

From the song "Will I?", very touching. And I'm sure you've had that feeling where you have all these problems and you feel like nobody cares. I really like this play because it deals more with just plain relationships, you also learn a lot about life and how you can deal with your problems and other people who have problems. At least, that's my take on it.
18. Complete the lyrics: "How we gonna pay last year's..."

Answer: rent

First song from the soundtrack and it's also the title of the play.
19. Who sings the song "One song, glory, one song, before I go, glory one song to leave behind..."?

Answer: Roger

Remember Roger wanted to write "one great song." I think the song he wrote for Mimi "Your Eyes" was totally sweet.
20. What is the title of the song and who sings it? "Do you go the Cat Scratch Club? That's where I work - I dance. Help me look." "Yes! They used to tie you up." "It's a living." "I didn't recognize you without the handcuffs."

Answer: Roger and Mimi; Light My Candle

Roger and Mimi sing this when they first meet each other and Mimi needs to light her candle. It's incredibly sweet and one of my favorite songs.
