Answer: Alfred and Lydia

Alfred was indebted to his father for his money. Alfred is incapable of doing anything his father does not approve of. Lydia has created many of the gardens at Gorston Hall.

2. Which two characters said that they were making a telephone call at the time of the murder?

Answer: George and Magdalene

Actually neither of them were making a phone call. George was rummaging through Alfred's things and Magdalene was hiding in the staircase.

3. Which character was very attached to his mother?

Answer: David Lee

David did not like the way Simeon treated his mother. David did not care about money at all.

Hilda went to confront her father-in-law, but stood dead in front of the doorway when she heard the scream.

The real Pilar died during the Spanish Civil War. The Pilar at Gorston Hall was her servant. The real Stephen Farr died two years previously. The one at Gortson Hall is an illegitimate son of Simeon Lee.
