1. Cronenberg's first film was filmed in Toronto; the setting is the fictitious Skyline Apartment building. When a young girl's body is found, a bizarre disease infects the residents of the building and one man is the carrier. What is the name of his first film?

Answer: Shivers

After several short films, "Transfer", "From the Drain", "Stereo" and "Crimes of the Future", Cronenberg was ready to shoot his first feature length film. A small Canadian film company, Cine-Pix, was ready to finance it, but fell through with the money.

He then traveled to Los Angeles to pitch it to Roger Corman. Before Corman was ready for him, Cronenberg received financing through the CFDC (Canadian Film Development Corportation) and "Shivers" was a smash hit. "They Came From Within" was the American release title, "Orgy of the Blood Parasites" was the original title.
2. The film Cronenberg made in 1977 was also about the spread of disease, though on a much wider scale. After Rose and her boyfriend Hart are rescued, after a motorcycle crash, they're taken to the Keloid Clinic where Rose grows a strange spiky protuberance in her left arm pit that sticks anyone she hugs and they become victims of a disease that's spread throughout Montreal. Answer: Rabid

Released in 1977, "Rabid" became Cronenberg's second, high-grossing film. It was also financed by the CFDC and it out-grossed "Shivers". An odd choice for Rose was adult film star, Marilyn Chambers, in her first and only mainstream film.
3. After 'Rabid' came this next film. Frank Carveth lives with his five year old daughter, Candy, while her mother Nola is in therapy at the Somafree Institute, run by Dr. Hal Raglan.
