Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This 1982 film showed a family walking and entering a motel room that they checked into. They all went inside and closed the door. After a few moments, the husband/father came back outside while pushing the motel room's television set outside the room. Name this film.

Answer: Poltergeist

Tobe Hooper was the director of this 1982 classic, and Steven Spielberg wrote and produced the film. It starred Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams as Steven and Diane Freeling. They lived in a beautiful home with their three children. Strange things started happening, like furniture moving, the television coming on by itself, etc.

Then their five year old daughter Carol Anne wound up getting taken to the "other side" after talking to the 't.v. people' (as she called them) while the television was showing nothing but static.

She was also sucked into the closet, which served as a portal to the other side. The family had to call a spiritual medium to help get their daughter back. Of course, after all this happened, the last thing they wanted around would be a television set, which is why Steven shoved it outside the motel room!
2. In the 2002 horror film 'The Ring', people would die seven days after watching a very creepy videotape. What was the name of the first victim in the film?

Answer: Katie

Katie Embry was found dead in her closet. Her face was frozen in a state of shock after what she had seen. A creepy young girl named Samara would come crawling out of the television set to claim her victims. This would cause them to die at the sight of her. Katie was played by Amber Tamblyn.
3. In the movie 'Halloween III: Season of the Witch', masks were created to kill the people wearing them after they watched a special commercial that aired on television on Halloween night. The name of the company that were making these deadly Halloween masks was the _________ Novelties Factory. What two words are missing?

Answer: Silver Shamrock

This 1982 film had nothing to do with the rest of the 'Halloween' film franchise. In this film, a man named Conal Cochran created Halloween masks with special computer chips planted inside. This was intended to kill the children wearing them while watching the Silver Shamrock commercial on Halloween night.

The chip would activate, causing gruesome deaths to all who were wearing the masks.
4. This independent film was about people going insane and becoming crazed killers after a strange signal was sent through televisions, radios, and telephones. Which film was it?

Answer: The Signal

'The Signal' was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. It was about a signal that mysteriously began to broadcast through all telecommunication devices. This caused anyone who became exposed to it to go mad and in most situations, they would become very violent.
5. In a film from the original 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' franchise, there was a scene where a girl named Jennifer was up late watching t.v. in an attempt to stop herself from falling asleep. While watching, she accidentally dozed off, which caused Freddy's arms and head to come out of the sides and top of the television set and kill her by pulling her head through the t.v screen. Which one of these 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' movies was this scene from?

Answer: A Nighmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Released in 1987, this was the second sequel to the original film series. The victim named Jennifer Caulfield was played by actress Penelope Sudrow. She was watching a late night show called 'The Dick Cavett Show', in which Dick Cavett himself was interviewing actress Zsa Zsa Gabor.

When Jennifer had fallen asleep, she entered a dream state and walked over to the television set, which was now showing static. She tried changing the channel, but then two arms made of television wires came out of the sides and grabbed her, and lifted her up. Freddy's head then appeared through the top of the t.v., complete with hilarious rabbit ear antennas that were sticking out of the top of his head.

He exclaimed one of his famous funny quotes to Jennifer before roughly pulling her head right through the screen, which had caused her to be electrocuted.
6. In this 2004 Japanese horror film, hospital staff became infected after a patient was brought in and neglected. One by one, the staff wound up going mad and oozing a gooey substance from their bodies, resulting in death. Which film was it?

Answer: Infection

The hospital was very understaffed and low on funding, so when the infected patient was brought in, Dr. Akiba didn't want him to be admitted. The patient was then left unattended while the staff took care of another emergency. The infection on the person started out as a black rash, but then ended up causing the person's body to liquefy into a very strange green gooey substance. Eventually, the hospital staff wound up becoming infected by this, and things at the hospital started to become very strange, to say the least.

Some of the things that happened were that one of the nurses went mad and scalded her own hands with hot water, while others did things like injecting themselves with needles, as well as eating square pieces of human flesh!
7. Which film set in a hospital starred Playboy Playmate Barbi Benton as a woman stalked by a killer dressed as a surgeon?

Answer: Hospital Massacre

Benton played the role of Susan Jeremy. She went to a hospital for an exam and wound up being stalked by a psycho who was dressed with scrubs and a surgical mask and went around killing the hospital staff. The killer was getting revenge for being turned down and scoffed at several years earlier by Susan on Valentine's Day, which also resulted in him killing her best friend.

This 1982 horror film has also gone by the title 'X-Ray'.
8. What 1982 film starred Lee Grant as a feminist activist named Deborah Ballin, who wound up being stalked in a hospital by a killer named Colt Hawker?

Answer: Visiting Hours

Michael Ironside played the role of serial killer Colt Hawker. He first attacked Ballin in her home, but then decided to finish the job at County General Hospital when he had found out that she was still alive, and sent over there. This film also starred Linda Purl and William Shatner.
9. The 2008 horror movie 'Dark Floors' featured which rock band as the monsters in the film?

Answer: Lordi

This Finnish horror movie was also titled 'The Lordi Motion Picture'. The whole band starred as monsters that appear at St. Mary's Hospital. Several strangers became trapped there, with an autistic young girl named Sarah among them. Sarah lived at the hospital before her father decided that he wanted to take her home.

It eventually became apparent to the other people who had just met that it was up to Sarah to save them from the dangers of the now abandoned hospital. The band members did not have speaking parts, since they were playing monsters in their full costumes. Lordi was with Ozzy Osbourne on the Ozzfest tour even while the production of this film was taking place.

In order to do this, they had to have stunt doubles do some scenes for them.
10. In the first sequel to the original 1978 film 'Halloween', Laurie Strode was taken to the hospital after her first dramatic encounter with killer Michael. What was the name of the hospital she was sent to?

Answer: Haddonfield Memorial Hospital

'Halloween II', which came out in 1981, continued the story from the first film. Poor Laurie had already been traumatized from trying to escape the wrath of her demented brother Michael, and yet even after being taken to the hospital, she still wound up having to fight for her life. Michael had returned to find Laurie, and in the process, killed anyone who got in his way.

This also included the hospital staff. Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence returned in this film as Laurie Strode and Dr. Sam Loomis.
