Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played the Devil in the film "Legend" (1985)?

Answer: Tim Curry

Tim Curry played a very impressive and horrifying devil in "Legend". He has had quite a variety of roles in both movies and TV, including Frank N. Furter in "Rocky Horror Picture Show", a bumbling hotel manager in "Home Alone 2", and a really creepy serial killer in two episodes of "Criminal Minds".
2. Who wrote the book on which the movie "I am Legend" (2007) is based?

Answer: Richard Matheson

"I am Legend", starring Will Smith as Dr Robert Neville, is the third film adaptation of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel, in which a pandemic caused by a bacterial infection has reduced most of the human race to vampire-like creatures. The other two films were "The Last Man on Earth" (1964) and "The Omega Man" (1971).
3. Who played Geronimo in "Geronimo: an American legend" (1993)?

Answer: Wes Studi

Wes Studi has played several native American characters in quite a distinguished career in movies both in theatres and made for TV. He was in "Dances with Wolves", "The Last of the Mohicans" (Magua), "The Hunter's Moon", and played Tony Hillerman's Navajo detective, Joe Leaphorn, in two made-for-TV movies. "Geronimo: an American Legend" was noteworthy for depicting both the Apaches and the U.S. army in a sympathetic light.
4. What sport was the subject of "The Legend of Bagger Vance" (2000)?

Answer: Golf

In this Robert Redford film, Matt Damon played Rannulph Junuh, a talented golfer now traumatised by his experiences in World War I. After he entered an exhibition tournament, there appeared a stranger named Bagger Vance (Will Smith), who acted as his caddy and helped him to regain his golf game and to put his demons to rest.
5. Who played the title character in "Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy" (2004)?

Answer: Will Ferrell

All of the choices did appear in this tongue-in-cheek movie, which depicted a 1970s TV anchorman and his 'war' against a competitor, played by Christina Applegate. Will Ferrell was a regular on "Saturday Night Live" in the late 1990s, and in the first decade of the 21st century was included among "The Frat Pack", a collection of comic actors such as Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carell, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson.
6. In "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes" (1984), what senior and distinguished English actor played the Earl of Greystoke and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor?

Answer: Ralph Richardson

Sir Ralph Richardson was one of the three knighted actors, the others being Sir John Gielgud and Sir Laurence Olivier, who dominated London theatre in the years following World War II. He appeared also in a great number of films, including "Our Man in Havana" (1959), "Doctor Zhivago" (1967), "Dragonslayer" (1981), and "The Heiress" (1949), for which he was also nominated for an Academy Award.

His nomination for "Greystoke" was a posthumous one.
7. In "City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold" (1994), the character of Duke was played by Jack Palance. What relation was Duke to Curly?

Answer: Identical twin brother

Part of the fun in the first part of the movie was Mitch (Billy Crystal) thinking that he was having visions of his dead friend, Curly, when in fact he was seeing Curly's identical twin, Duke. Jack Palance won an Oscar for his performance as Curly in the first "City Slickers" movie (1991), and at the presentation of the Oscar demonstrated how fit he was by doing one-armed push-ups on stage.
8. Who played the title role in "The Legend of Billie Jean" (1985)?

Answer: Helen Slater

This film was set in South Texas and centered around Bille Jean (Helen Slater) and her younger brother, Binx (Christian Slater) -- the two actors are not related. The themes of the movie included sexual harassment, bullying and violence, and false accusations.

Helen Slater's early career was principally in movies, including "Supergirl" (1984), "The Secret of My Success" (1987), and "City Slickers" (1991), but more recently she has appeared in guest slots on all sorts of established TV series.
9. What actor appeared in both "Legends of the Fall" (1994) and "E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial" (1982)?

Answer: Henry Thomas

Although he has appeared in many movies and TV shows, Henry Thomas has never matched the success that he had playing Elliott in "E.T.". Perhaps his best known appearances were in "Legends of the Fall", playing the youngest son of Colonel Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins), and "Cloak and Dagger" (1984).
10. Which of the following horrible acts did NOT occur in "Urban Legends: The Final Cut" (2000)?

Answer: A character drowned in a bath-tub full of ice.

"Urban Legends: The Final Cut" was a sequel to the moderately successful slasher film, "Urban Legends" (1998). There was a scene in which a character awakened in an ice-filled bath tub and realised that she was short one kidney, but she died in a different fashion.

As well as the events listed above, the film had a flight attendant attacking passengers on a plane, a character found hanging from a bell in the bell-tower, another character decapitated after jumping through a window, and a man whose death screams went unheard.
