Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland, and Tommy Lee Jones starred with James Garner in what action movie?

Answer: Space Cowboys

James Garner, Tommy Lee Jones, Clint Eastwood and Donald Sutherland acted together in "Space Cowboys". Eastwood also produced and directed the movie. Coincidentally, in "Streets of Laredo" Garner played the role of Woodrow Call, a character that Tommy Lee Jones played in "Lonesome Dove".
2. What chick flick starred Garner with Ashley Judd, Ellen Burstyn, Sandra Bullock, and Maggie Smith?

Answer: Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood

Though not a starring role for Garner, he was superb as Ellen Burstyn's long-suffering husband.
3. What western starred Garner with help from Suzanne Pleshette, Harry Morgan, Jack Elam and Joan Blondell?

Answer: Support Your Local Gunfighter

Released in 1971, "Support Your Local Gunfighter" was a western parody and a sequel to "Support Your Local Sheriff".
4. Garner starred in a 1960s drama with Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn. What was the name of that movie?

Answer: The Great Escape

Garner played Hendley "the scrounger" in this great movie. "The Great Escape", released in 1963, is about British, American, and Australian officers in a German POW camp during WWII. It details their plans at escape, and the consequences because of it. McQueen, Bronson, and Coburn had also starred together in "The Magnificent Seven" (1960). An interesting observation, Coburn and Bronson were both killed in "The Magnificent Seven" and, amazingly, their characters were among the few who managed to escape in "The Great Escape". On the flip side, McQueen lived in "The Magnificent Seven" but the "Cooler King" ended up back in the pow camp in "The Great Escape". Both movies were directed by John Sturgess.
5. Garner starred in a romance with Sally Field, Corey Haim, and Brian Kerwin. What movie was that?

Answer: Murphy's Romance

Sally Field and Garner starred in this 1985 romantic comedy. The scene where Garner confronts the sheriff about the many tickets he has from parking in a no-parking zone is great!
6. This western comedy starred Garner with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster.

Answer: Maverick

Garner starred as Bret Maverick in the television series "Maverick" from 1957 to 1959. In the early 1980s he also starred in two television movies based on the character. In the 1994 film, he starred as Maverick's father. Nice turnabout...
7. Julie Andrews, Lesley Ann Warren, and Robert Preston starred with Garner in what movie?

Answer: Victor/Victoria

Blake Edwards' 1982 comedy is great! For those of you in the dark, Julie Andrews plays a female soprano playing a man playing a woman... a little confusing, I know! Garner plays a mafia lord in this movie set in the 1930s.
8. What comedy starred Sela Ward, Jack Lemmon, Lauren Bacall and Dan Ackroyd with Garner?

Answer: My Fellow Americans

In this 1996 movie, Lemmon and Garner, both former presidents, have to unite when they become targets in an assassination plot.
9. Garner, Leonard Nimoy, Michael J. Fox, John Mahoney, and Claudia Christian all lent their voices to which movie?

Answer: Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Though he was never "seen" on camera, Garner lent his voice to this Disney movie as Commander Lyle Tiberius Rourke in 2001.
10. James Woods, Gary Sinise, and JoBeth Williams starred in what television movie with Garner?

Answer: My Name is Bill W.

"My Name is Bill W." was released in 1989, and features James Woods as a stockbroker during the 1920s.
