Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Julius kisses Rita at her wedding their spirits trade bodies.

Answer: Prelude to a Kiss (1992)

Rita Boyle, played by Meg Ryan, and Peter Hoskins, played by Alec Baldwin, could not be more different. She is a carefree graphics designer with a liberal outlook and he is conservative minded government employee working for the housing authority. Opposites attract, right? On their wedding day, things get interesting as an unknown older gentleman named Julius asks to kiss the bride. Somehow this act causes Julius' and Rita's souls to swap bodies! You will have to watch the movie to find out what happens next! "Prelude to a Kiss" is based on the theater play of the same name which also shares the name of a Duke Ellington song.
2. Newspaper copy editor, Josie Geller, goes undercover as a high school student.

Answer: Never Been Kissed (1999)

Josie Geller, played by Drew Barrymore, was a geek the first time through high school. As a young adult, she finds herself in a successful career as a copy editor for the "Chicago Sun-Times". As an assignment, she goes undercover as a high school student to help parents connect better with their teens.

This assignment takes a life of its own as Josie begins to realize all she missed in high school the first time around, including being kissed! Drew Barrymore was born into an acting family and has been in numerous successful roles in her career. You may remember her as the pig-tailed little sister in "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" and as Adam Sandler's amnesiac love interest, Lucy, in "50 First Dates". Berrymore even won a Guinness World Record for wearing the world's widest wig at 7ft 4in on "The Tonight Show". I should have thought of that one!
3. Michael feels trapped when his girlfriend, Jenna, becomes pregnant, so he decides to get intimate with Kim.

Answer: The Last Kiss (2006)

Michael, played by Zach Braff, and Jenna, played by Jacinda Barrett, have what appears to be a fantastic relationship. When Jenna becomes pregnant and her parents are encouraging them to marry, Michael feels trapped. At a friend's wedding, he meets Kim, who is a college student with a sympathetic ear for Michael's worries. Michael is able to resist the attraction for only so long which, of course, creates the conflict for the movie.

The question becomes, what will happen when Jenna finds out? The film explores many of the pressures and challenges of what it really means to share a long lasting relationship and the challenges children can bring to that relationship. "The Last Kiss" is a remake of the Italian film "l'ultimo Bacio", the top grossing film in Italy in 2001.
4. Sam, a small town soccer mom with amnesia, slowly realizes she is actually a trained assassin.

Answer: The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

Samantha Caine, played by Geena Davis, woke up pregnant on a beach suffering from severe amnesia without a clue of real identity. The movie starts eight years later with her life as a mom in a small town. In time she discovers clues about her very different past. She hires a detective to help her figure out the truth, but in doing so, her survival also becomes known to her enemies, who know more about her than she does!

In real life, Geena Davis became a mother and discovered she did not like how few female roles were present in her young daughter's favorite shows. She funded research which concluded children's shows had 3 male characters for every female character. This discrepancy led to Davis starting the "Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media" which collaborates with the entertainment industry to increase the presence of female characters.
5. The honeymoon goes from bad to worse as the locals try to convince Gerald that Marianne was only in his imagination.

Answer: The Kiss of the Vampire (1963)

Gerald and Marianne decide that a Bavarian honeymoon would be an ideal way to start their marriage, until their car has a flat tire and they seek refuge at Dr. Ravna's mansion. The couple is invited to a party Dr. Ravna is hosting where Gerald is drugged unconscious and is then told by everyone in the entire town that Marianne was only a figment of his imagination. Luckily for Gerald, Professor Zimmer is there to not only reassure him he is not crazy, but also helps him rescue Marianne. Gerald is played by Edward de Souza, who has the distinction of being the lead character in the only "Dr. Who" episode which does not feature the Dr., his companions, or the Tardis.

The episode is entitled "Mission to the Unknown" from season 3.
6. While sharing a cell, two very different prisoners, one a rebel and the other a homosexual, discuss a Nazi war movie.

Answer: Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985)

"Kiss of the Spider Woman" is a film about two South American prisoners, one detained for being a militant revolutionary and the other for being a gay man accused of molesting a boy. The militant, Valentin, is being tortured to give the warden information about his rebel group.

The gay, Luis, has memorized his favorite film about the Nazi occupation in France. At first, Valentin is annoyed by Luis insisting on recounting every detail of the movie, however, as time in their cell drags on, Valentin wants to learn more. But, not all is as it seems in this film. William Hunt won a Best Actor Academy Award for his role as Luis.
7. A divorced couple must act out a romantic Shakespearean style play to make enough money to pay off the gangsters.

Answer: Kiss Me Kate (1953)

"Kiss Me Kate" is a movie about a play which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew". Lilli decides to accept the role of Katherine out of jealousy of Lois, whom her ex-husband, Fred, fancies. Lois's boyfriend, Bill, however, took out a loan with a gangster who wants his money back, except Bill signed the loan as Fred... so the gangsters are now after Fred! Fred convinces the gangsters he will get them their money from the proceeds from the performance of their musical. Howard Keel played the role of Fred and Kathryn Grayson played the role of Lilli.

Interestingly, both Howard and Kathryn got their start as professional singers, each by singing to themself and being overheard by another person who encouraged them to make money with their voices. For Howard, it was a janitor while Kathryn was overheard by her landlady.
8. Women are being held prisoner by a man who calls himself Casanova.

Answer: Kiss the Girls (1997)

Dr. Kate McTiernan, played by Ashley Judd, was kidnaped and managed to escape Casanova's lair. She teams up with forensic psychologist Detective Alex Cross, played by Morgan Freeman. Unlike a serial killer, Casanova likes to collect his victims for his pleasure. Will the two be able to figure out the mystery in time to rescue all the imprisoned women? An interesting fact about the legendary Morgan Freeman is he is an apiarist. Honey bees are critical to pollinate many of the crops we depend on, so Morgan turned a large farm into a bee colony.

He even had clover, lavender, and Magnolia trees installed there for the bees to pollinate. So cool!
9. Mike Hammer should know better than to pick up a hitchhiker on the run from the mental hospital.

Answer: Kiss Me Deadly (1955)

After Mike Hammer, played by Ralph Meeker, picks up a female hitchhiker, he is stopped by some thugs who kill the girl and leave him for dead. Being a hard-nosed private detective, Mike decides to find out why the thugs attacked him and how he can get even by taking something away from the mob boss at the top. Mickey Spillane created the character Mike Hammer and wrote several novels for this detective. In the series, Mike is a tough detective who wants to punish murderers. Several of Spillane's other Hammer novels were also made into films.
10. Charlie breaks off his engagement when he flies to Europe and falls in love with another woman.

Answer: French Kiss (1995)

Charlie wants Kate to fly with him to Paris, but she hates flying and stays at home. Soon Charlie breaks off the engagement because he has fallen for another woman. Kate decides she will fly to Paris to win Charlie back... until she meets a petty thief named Luc who complicates her plans. Meg Ryan plays the part of Kate and Kevin Kline plays the part of Luc.

While Kevin Kline is a master of comedy, he has a serious side when it comes to his son Owen's Juvenile Diabetes. Kline has donated much of his time and treasure to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
