This line "Impetuous! Homeric!" was censored out of the first screenings in Boston Massachusetts. Obviously, Michaeleen thought it was broken from a night of intercourse. Sean Thornton had actually just thrown Mary Kate on the bed and it broke. He slept in the main room in his sleeping bag instead.

This is said, during the fight scene, just before they go into Cohan's pub for a pint. After all, people are coming from all over to see this fight, so they will take a break and have a pint before they kill each other. You'll notice Michaeleen spit accidentally right in Feeney's face, when he asked Michaeleen to place a bet on Thornton for him during the fight.

Answer: Snuffy

Reverend Playfair's Bishop calls him Snuffy, as he hands the Reverend a check for losing the bet on the fight. Mrs. Playfair then smiles because she was not the only one to be betting on the fight. She tells Snuffy she'll have the tea ready.

The Catholic Father Lonergan makes this request of everyone, so the Protestant Reverend will not lose his position in Inissfree. They need to make it appear there are more people in his congregation than there really are. You'll recall the Reverend tells Sean there are only two or three people in his congregation, while they're speaking of Sean's fighting days.

We first learn of his nickname during the flashback scene, after Will Danaher has knocked him out at the wedding. The newspaper in the flashback shows his name atop an article. The Reverend Playfair, a sports fan himself, identifies Sean as Trooper Thorn as well.

He knows why Sean doesn't want to fight Will Danaher and keeps his past a secret. You will also hear Reverend Playfair cut the nickname short to just Trooper.

Michaeleen fires a gun off into the air, to get everybody's attention, and announces this is a private matter. He requests that all of the non-belligerents go to their respective corners.

We do not see the foul ourselves. The race is split up between footage of the race along the beach and watching the judges view the race through their binoculars. John Wayne's children played small roles in this scene. Patrick Wayne is the most notable, from his later roles in his father's movies.

They all are present at the race. Patrick is on the wagon and Michael and Toni are present as well.

We first hear the name of the cottage when Sean stops along the bridge with Michaleen. Sean asks the name of it. He has never seen White O' Mornin' except as a baby. He only knows about it from the stories his mother would tell him in Pittsburgh.

She says this during the initial courting scene. Michaeleen allows them to walk ahead of him. Sean is confused by all of the tradition around courtship in Ireland and explains how in America he'd drive up to her house and honk and she'd come running out. Mary Kate is not amused by this and it results in one of Michaeleen's classic lines "Is this a courtin' or a donnybrook? Have the good manners not to hit the man until he's your husband and until he can hit you back."

During their visit to see Sean, via bicycle, the Reverend and Mrs. Playfair stop by to deliver a plant. She tells Sean it is the way all Irish cottages should look and that only an American would have chosen green although they inform him that red is more durable.
