Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the Chameleon Killer's first onscreen victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Janet Crane / 'Psycho'

Since the whole film revolved around a killer who was using the kills of various famous slasher films, it was only fitting that the film open with the 'Psycho' inspired kill that started it all...the infamous shower scene. The character of Janet Crane is named after both Janet Leigh and her character from 'Psycho', Marion Crane.

The killer kills Janet in almost the same way that Norman Bates killed Marion in 'Psycho', while dressed in a old woman's dress. But where Norman's face wasn't visible in Hitchcock's film, due to shading, the Chameleon Killer wears a mask that looks strikingly similar to Norma Bates' corpse at the end of 'Psycho'!
2. The Chameleon Killer's next victim was stopped by a roadblock in the road while driving and was chased by the killer on foot. Who was the victim and what famous movie was this kill inspired by?

Answer: Glenn Jacobs / 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'

Since the killer in the film was much smaller then Leatherface in 'TCM' and Rodney Duncan was more the size of that character, this second kill ended up one of the more powerful moments in the film, as the killer kills someone much larger then him or herself with a chainsaw.

The killer of course put on a fat suit to look more like Leatherface and wore a mask that looked like it was made of human flesh. The chase was a bit similar to the killing of Sally's brother Franklin in 'TCM', with the killer coming out of the shadows to attack and kill Glenn after he thought he had escaped.
3. The Chameleon Killer's next victim was killed by the killer while not wearing a costume related to that film. What famous movie was the kill still inspired by?

Answer: Coffy Grier / 'Madman'

Photographer Coffy Grier was named after both '70's actress Pam Grier and her famous character of Coffy, but her murder was based on the famous hanging scene by Madman Marz in the 1982 film 'Madman'. Unlike the killer's prior and later kills though, the killer kills her dressed not as Madman Marz... but simply wearing the undermask and coat that the killer normally wears to disguise his or her identity.

It was the only main murder to be done this way. The only other time the killer did this in the film was at the end, after we found out who the killer was.
4. The Chameleon Killer's next victim was ready to go to a party and was killed in a car. Who was the victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Michelle Wallace / 'Halloween'

Since director Matt Spease is such a huge fan of the original John Carpenter film, it really shone when he took a variation on Annie's final moments with this kill. The killer stalked Michelle Wallace, much like Michael Myers did Laurie Strode early in 'Halloween'.

The killer wore a pale white mask with brown hair and a pair of navy blue overalls, much like Michael did in Carpenter's film.
5. The Chameleon Killer's next victim had witnessed the previous murder and had survived being chased by the killer by running to the police station. This victim was placed in protective custody and put in a safe house. Who was the victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Reed / 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'

Having the killer tear open Reed's throat with a claw wasn't how the kill was originally planned in the script; he was supposed to have been hung in his cell the way that Rod Lane was killed in the original Wes Craven film. But due to the shake up of the film being shot not long after 9/11, the local police station wouldn't allow the use of the cell, so the scene was restructured for the film without the cell.
6. The Chameleon Killer's next victim was attacked and chased through the rooming house by the killer with a large weapon. After hiding in the back yard, this victim was killed as a helpless Mitch Phillips looked on from an upstairs window. Who was the victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Trish Richards / 'Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday'

The Jason Voorhees style decapitation being done fairly early on such a major character was a surprise to many who would have thought Trish wouldn't die until the finale, which was exactly the case in a very early draft of the script. But director Matt Spease wanted to shake things up by killing what would turn out to be a popular character midway into the film.
7. Of the Chameleon Killer's next victims, one was tormented by the killer before the killer turned up in the house, while the other found the body and was shockingly killed as well. This was the killer's only two for one. Who was killed and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Denise Marshall & Deputy Tyler / 'Scream'

After the shocking death of Trish via machete, the next kill took a unique look at Casey's death in 'Scream' and used it as a building block to bring tension between the killer and Sheriff Garris.
Tyler had his throat viciously cut by the killer after he was the first to the scene of the crime and was calling in for an ambulance on his radio. This set up the first confrontation between Sheriff Garris and the killer via Tyler's walkie talkie.
8. The Chameleon Killer's next victim talked on a cell phone while sitting in his or her car when the killer walked up next to the driver side door and killed the victim through the glass! Who was the victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Kris Chandler / 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'

The most hated character in the film was nearly the last to be killed, as the reporter received a fisherman's hook to the side of her face as she sat in her car talking to her editor. Ironically this whole sequence was shot in the parking lot in front of a church.
9. The Chameleon Killer's next victim went to the scene of one of the previous murders in the back yard to gloat, but the killer showed up with another large weapon and spoiled the party. This victim was killed and his body fell on top of Mitch Phillips at the front door of the rooming house. Who was the victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Wesley Barres / 'Urban Legend'

Wesley was the spoiled rich brat son of Acid Falls' matriarch Christopher Barres. His eagerness to witness the place where goth girl Trish was murdered ended up being his downfall. The killer ended up giving him the axe. Wesley was the youngest victim to be killed in the film. (He was 15 years old.)
10. Next was the Chameleon Killer's final victim in costume, before the shocking reveal of the killer's identity. Who was the victim and what famous movie was the kill inspired by?

Answer: Mitch Phillips / 'Valentine'

This was the final kill that was based on a movie slasher and also gave us the epic reveal of the killer. For this kill, the killer wore a Cherub mask and black trenchcoat, it was almost identical to the one worn by the killer in 'Valentine'. Ironically Mitch was who most audience members thought was the killer in the film, so the reveal of the killer was quite a shock to many.
