Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When The Stuff is first found, what is it doing?

Answer: Bubbling

One night, a group of workers patrolling a construction site stumbles upon a white goo bubbling up from the snow-covered ground and, of course, take the wise choice of eating the stuff and discovering that it's actually delicious and smooth. Almost immediately, they realize that if there's enough of the stuff, they can sell it to people. Capitalism at work, people.

Elsewhere, at some point after 'The Stuff' is sold in stores, a boy wakes up in the middle of the night and looks in his fridge to find the stuff moving around on its own. When his father looks in the fridge, The Stuff is in its container.
2. Mo Rutherford used to work for which of these organizations?

Answer: FBI

After The Stuff gets big as a delicious snack, the ice cream industry takes a major hit, and a number of industrial leaders invite a former FBI agent to a meeting on a fancy business yacht. The man, Mo Rutherford, is hired for an undisclosed sum because they're worried about what The Stuff may do to their businesses, and if Mr. Rutherford were to go in, find out the truth, and potentially sabotage their business, then they would all be able to sleep a little easier at night.

He departs, punching out an actual FBI staffer on the way off the yacht, because that's just the type of guy he is.
3. The Stuff is a no-calorie treat.

Answer: True

Jason wakes up the next morning and tells his family not to eat The Stuff. They don't really believe him though. In fact, when he warns them not to eat it because it was moving, his father admits to eating some the night before and both his mother and brother eat it in front of him. They just can't seem to wrap their minds around disliking such a wonderful, no-calorie snack that's good for you and which doesn't seem to have any bad attributes whatsoever.

In the lab, scientists try to determine what makes The Stuff so darn good. Oh yeah, and they try to figure out why it's able to continually replenish itself. So many people buy The Stuff that it almost seems impossible that they have enough to give. Suffice to say, tests are soon underway.
4. Nicole works in which of these industries?

Answer: Marketing

Mo ends up at a commercial shoot for The Stuff and it's there that he talks to a woman named Nicole who runs a marketing firm. He says he wants to buy her out, though she doesn't really know that it's to sabotage The Stuff, even though she's the one who branded the product, giving it its name and image. The two of them decide to flirt aggressively and go to dinner somewhere to further discuss their ventures.

Jason, meanwhile, heads to a grocery store and has a bit of a nervous breakdown, immediately destroying any tubs of The Stuff in sight and smashing freezers full of it just to prevent its sale.
5. Mo ends up meeting a food industry maverick by what name when he investigates a small town for more info on 'The Stuff'?

Answer: Chocolate Chip Charlie

Mo continues to search for answers, inevitably speaking to a former FDA worker about The Stuff and asking for any information he may have laying around. The man seems to be afraid of his own dog and insists there's nothing wrong with The Stuff. Later on, after Mo leaves, the man is attacked by his pet who, after pulling the phone cord out of the wall with its teeth, begins to spew The Stuff from its mouth.

Mo later ends up in a small town where, along with ice cream company owner 'Chocolate Chip Charlie', he discovers some dodgy people covering up a town full of relocated citizens. During their investigation at the local post office, they're attacked by townspeople, some of whom seem to crumble beneath their fists and be filled with The Stuff, until they escape in a rowboat. It doesn't phase them too much; they go straight to a diner and order a meal...even though one of them punched through another man's face only a few minutes earlier.
6. What does Jason eat to pretend, in front of his parents, that he's eating The Stuff?

Answer: Shaving cream

When he gets back to the city, Mo realizes that there are people involved in the whole Stuff conspiracy that know he's on their trail, and when he visits the President of the whole company responsible for The Stuff, the plot thickens. The President claims not to eat the stuff, partly because his doctor wouldn't allow it, but partly because he's seen the addiction behind it. The President tries to buy Mo off, but that doesn't seem to be a concern.

Nicole, meanwhile, has severe worries about her complicity in the whole ordeal since she was the one responsible for The Stuff's general dissemination.

Jason, at home, also ends up going deeper finding his entire family eating The Stuff in the living room. They try to convince him to eat it, saying that there are living organisms in bread and yogurt, but his family needs to restrain him before he takes a tub into his hands. He ends up dumping the stuff into the toilet anyways. Little does he know, the whole fridge is full of the stuff. He pretends to eat The Stuff in front of his parents but he fakes it by eating shaving cream. When his parents find that out, he has no choice but to run away from home. It's a good thing that Mo is already coming by to nab him.
7. Where was The Stuff originally sent for testing?

Answer: Georgia

Mo takes Nicole and Jason to Georgia to investigate the official testing ground for The Stuff in Georgia, leaving Jason on the plane and, under the guise of market analysts, they get deep into the inner sanctums of the Stuff plant. Jason, meanwhile, has to flee the plane when an airline technician places The Stuff inside. He ends up racing to the old Fletcher Mine (now closed) to hide inside a water truck and accidentally infiltrate the Stuff plant on his own.

Mo and Nicole end up only touring a small portion of the plant, getting sent to a nearby motel for the night and getting attacked by The Stuff in the middle of the night. Nicole quickly figures out that she can light Mo's face on fire to get it off. As they hot-wire a truck to escape, the motel burns down.
8. How are people convinced to stop eating The Stuff?

Answer: A message is sent out regarding its true properties.

Mo and Nicole return to the plant containing The Stuff to find the processing plant siphoning The Stuff from a hole in the Earth. Mo realizes that the only way he can prove this to the world is by stealing a truck full of the stuff, and go figure, he has some plastic explosives to use to make a distraction. He ends up taking the truck that has Jason inside too, because obviously that's how things happen, so that whole thing sorts itself out.

On the way to a large city, Mo ends up taking Nicole and Jason to Col. Spears, a military man who's aware that the situation has gotten out of hand. They work together to send out a message about The Stuff and urge the public to set it on fire to destroy it. And it works. People stop eating The Stuff altogether.

There's a big chase where Nicole and Jason have to flee from The Stuff at one point, but it's irrelevant. It's actually more amazing that they even split up and run into The Stuff at all.

Oh yeah, and Chocolate Chip Charlie is taken over by The Stuff as well and it becomes a real issue when they have to set a radio studio on fire to put an end to it.
9. What is the name of The Stuff's less appealing replacement?

Answer: The Taste

Once people stop eating The Stuff, the industry fights to rebound from the loss of their addictive, parasitic ooze. The Stuff, the company behind it I mean, ends up vowing to continue producing the product despite the public backlash. In addition to this, they create an alternative, mostly made with ice cream, but still being about an eighth of The Stuff in every tub (named 'The Taste').

Mo doesn't like any of this. In fact, he decides that over time he would like to eradicate all wellsprings of The Stuff on Earth.
10. In the end, does The Stuff still exist?

Answer: Yes

Yeah...why learn, right?

Mo ends up forcing the Presidents of The Stuff company to eat their own product at gunpoint because apparently he's also an evil man? And he has Jason watch while this happens because-- hey-- adult influence? Something like that?

And it doesn't even help 100%. At the end of the film, The Stuff is only sellable on the black market and without the government aware of its distribution. Social commentary never tasted so addictively sweet.
