Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This British band was Freddie Mercury, Brain May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor from 1971 until 1991 (Mercury's death). Who were they?

Answer: Queen

From 1971 to 1991, Queen were one of the biggest bands in the world. With hits like "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions," and "Bohemian Rhapsody" among other, they sold over 300 million albums worldwide. When Mercury died, so did the band's popularity to some extent.

However, the 1971-1991 version of Queen is widely considered to be one of the greatest rock/opera/jazz/all kinds of music styles bands ever.
2. This Canadian prog rock band featured singer/bassist Geddy Lee, guitarist, Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neal Peart from 1974 until 2018. Who are they?

Answer: Rush

Rush were possibly the most respected musicians in North American rock music in their heyday of the 1970s/1980s. They have sold over 40 million albums worldwide and they have 24 gold records, making them in the top five in North American bands, in gold records. Neal Peart is considered by some to be the greatest drummer ever. Rush made complex albums that sometimes had 20+ minute songs and had many tempo changes and odd time signatures among other things. Progressive rock music (musically complicated rock music) was a big thing in England with bands like Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jethro Tull, and Yes.

There weren't too many bands of that kind in North America. Rush from Canada may be the first one.

Answer: ZZ Top

ZZ Top are a rock band from Texas. They are most famous for their beards. Guitarist/singer Billy Gibbons and bassist/singer Dusty Hill have very long beards. Oddly and humorously, the one man in the band who doesn't have a beard is Frank Beard, the drummer.
