Marmalade recorded this song in 1968 and was a number one hit for them in the UK charts. They were the first Scottish group to have a number one hit record and when they appeared on the TV show "Top of the Pops" they dressed in kilts, the national dress of Scotland.

Answer: Peter Sellers

Peter Sellers performed a comic rendition of the song "Hard Days Night" for a television show featuring the lyrics of Lennon and McCartney. This rendition was so well received that Parlophone released it as a single in December 1965.

Brian Epstein was manager for both The Beatles and Billy J Kramer with The Dakotas. Lennon and McCartney wrote several songs specifically for
Billy J Kramer, this being one of them. The Beatles did, however, include it on their album "Please Please Me".
4. The Beatles released the single "Ticket To Ride in 1965. Which American duo covered this song?

Answer: The Carpenters

The Carpenters included the song "Ticket to Ride" on their first album titled "Offering" in 1969. The album was not initially well received and it was repackaged and re-released under the title "Ticket to Ride" in 1970.

Answer: Crosby Stills and Nash

Crosby Stills and Nash first considered recording "Blackbird" as far back as 1969 when they were recording their first album. At the same time the Beatles were in The Abbey Road studios recording the "White Album" and Crosby Stills and Nash heard them sing this song.

They thought it was perfect for their three part harmonies. A lasting favourite they recorded it on their "Allies" album in 1983 and it also featured in their boxed set. They also sang it live at concerts.
6. "With a Little Help From My Friends" has been covered many times. The cover by this person, however, is probably the most well known.

Answer: Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker released his version of "With A Little Help From My Friends" in 1968. The single reached the number 1 position in the UK singles chart and stayed in the charts for 13 weeks.

"I Wanna be Your Man" was the second single released by The Rolling Stones.
The first self penned single by Jagger and Richards was "The Last Time" which they released in the UK in March 1965.

Answer: Elton John

Elton John's version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" featured backing vocals and guitar by John Lennon. John Lennon was credited under the name of Dr Winston O'Boogie. Winston was John Lennon's middle name.

Answer: The Overlanders

Both the Overlanders and a duo called David and Jonathon released this Beatles song on the same day in January 1966 . In the UK the Overlanders version went to number 1 whilst the David and Jonathon version stalled at number 13. David and Jonathon was the name used by Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook to release this single.

They went on to have further hits under other guises but for The Overlanders this was a one hit wonder.
10. "Let It Be" was included on this Queen of Soul's album "This Girl's In Love With You" in 1970. Who was this "Queen of Soul"?

Answer: Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin included the song "Let It Be" on her album "This Girl's in Love With You" which was released in January 1970. This predated the single released by The Beatles in March 1970 and the album of the same name which was released in May 1970.
