Answer: Warren Zevon

This is the opening to the song "Lawyers, Guns and Money" off Zevon's 1978 album "Excitable Boy". Most casual music fans know Zevon only for the song "Werewolves Of London" but he was in fact one of the most critically acclaimed songwriters of his generation.
2. Name the group that wrote the song that starts "The first pub we could stagger to was twelve steps from the plane."

Answer: Reckless Kelly

This is the opening line to "Seven Nights in Eire" off the album "Reckless Kelly Was Here." The band is named for the 19th century bank robber Ned Kelly. Kelly was hanged for murder in 1880.
3. Name the artist that wrote the rock classic that begins "In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream."

Answer: Bruce Springsteen

This was probably an easy one. It's the great rock anthem "Born to Run" which was on Springsteen's iconic 1975 album of the same name. At one time there was a movement to make "Born To Run" the official state song of New Jersey.
