quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I see you driving 'round town with the girl I love, and I'm like..." What song title will finish this lyric?

Answer: Forget You

All the songs are from Cee Lo Green's 2010 album "The Lady Killer". "Forget You" was a huge success for Cee Lo, gaining 5X platinum in the United States. "The Lady Killer" is Cee Lo's second solo album (he is half of the duo Gnarls Barkley).
2. "Hold my hand while you cut me down." These are the first few words to which of these Adele songs?

Answer: Tired

"Tired" is from Adele's 2008 album "19". She had many hit singles from the album, though "Tired" was not one of them. Interesting fact: the title of Adele's album represents her age. She was 19 when she released her first album, and her second album, "21", was released when she was, you guessed it, 21 years old.
3. "Ladies don't worry cause they got plenty mo'." This is the first line of a Rihanna song, but which one is it?

Answer: Raining Men

"Raining Men" is a hit single found on Rihanna's 2010 album "Loud". The song features Nicki Minaj. This, of course, is not the only time Rihanna and Nicki Minaj performed together in the same song; "Fly", by Nicki Minaj featuring Rihanna, gained much success, even more so than "Raining Men".
4. "Beauty queen of only 18, she has some trouble with herself." Which of these bands sings a song that begins with these lyrics?

Answer: Maroon 5

Maroon 5 released their album "Songs About Jane" in 2002. It was not until just over two years later, however, that "She Will Be Loved" was released as a single in 2004. "She Will Be Loved" is, of course, the song in the question.
5. "I cannot take this anymore, saying everything I said before." The lyrics above are the first few from the song "One Step Closer". Which band sings it?

Answer: Linkin Park

"One Step Closer" was released in 2000 on Linkin Park's album "Hybrid Theory". The song only reached number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, but it must have had something going for it; it was featured as a song on "Rock Band 2".
6. "I'm so tired of being alone, so tired of on-my-own." It would be far too easy to ask what the song title is ("Tired of Being Alone"), so which reality winner sings the song?

Answer: Michael Grimm

Michael Grimm won the 5th season of "America's Got Talent" in 2010. In 2010, he released the album "Leave Your Hat On". "Tired of Being Alone" (remake of Al Green's song) is on that album.

The other three were also reality winners; Nota is a band that won the first season of "The Sing Off", Javier Colon won the first season of "The Voice", and Scotty McCreery won the 11th season of "American Idol".
7. "I'm coming home, I'm coming home. Tell the world that I'm coming home." It is probably obvious that the title of this song is "Coming Home". The song is by Diddy-Dirty Money, but which artist does it also feature?

Answer: Skylar Grey

"Coming Home" is from the 2010 Diddy album "Last Train to Paris". Diddy pairs with two other rappers to form the band "Diddy-Dirty Money". They sang "Coming Home" with Skylar Grey, and with huge success.
8. "I remember when, I remember I remember when I lost my mind." Gnarls Barkley sings this song. What is it called?

Answer: Crazy

"Crazy" was released as a single in 2006, and can be found on Gnarls Barkley's album "St. Elsewhere", which was released in 2006.

I remember as a younger lad, when I first heard the song, I thought "wow, this Gnarls Barkley guy sounds exactly like Cee Lo!" My dad informed me that it was Cee Lo; Gnarls Barkley is not a man, it is a duo band between Cee Lo and Danger Mouse.
9. "Just waking up in the morning and to be well." This is my all-time favorite song, sung by a band that is probably more known as singing "Stereo Hearts" with Adam Levine. Who is the band?

Answer: Gym Class Heroes

Gym Class Heroes (headed by Travie McCoy) released their fifth album "The Papercut Chronicles II" in 2011. They exploded into popularity with their hit "Stereo Hearts", featuring Adam Levine of Maroon 5.

"The Fighter", however, is the song that contains the lyrics from the question. Gym Class Heroes sang the song featuring Ryan Tedder, the singer from OneRepublic.
10. "If I die young, bury me in satin. Lay me down in a bed of roses." The song "If I Die Young" jumps right into the chorus. Who sings it?

Answer: The Band Perry

In 2010, The Band Perry released their debut album called "The Band Perry". They released "If I Die Young" as a single in late 2010, and with much success; their first single put them right into the public eye.
11. "Made a wrong turn, once or twice. Dug my way out, blood and fire." P!nk had a huge hit with this song. What is it?

Answer: Perfect

P!nk released her album "Greatest Hits... So Far! ! !" in 2010. It was a compilation of all her greatest hits (obviously, it says so in the title), but with three new songs (only two in North America). "Perfect" was one of these songs, as well as "Raise Your Glass" ("Heartbreak Down" was the third song, not released in North America).
12. "Yeah I'm chilling on a dirt road, laid back swerving like I'm George Jones." This was an interesting song, called "Dirt Road Anthem". It was a country-rap song! Who sang it?

Answer: Jason Aldean

"Dirt Road Anthem" was released as a single in 2011, and can be found on Jason Aldean's album "My Kinda Party", released in 2010. The song is a unique combination of country and rap, which only few artists have dared to try (Toby Keith is well known for his country-rap song "I Wanna Talk About Me").
13. "I miss the sound of your voice. And I miss the rush of your skin." Matt Nathanson sings this song. What is it called?

Answer: Come On Get Higher

"Come On Get Higher" was released in 2008 as a single, but only made it the number 59 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It is his only single from his 2007 album "Some Mad Hope".
14. "If I could write you a song to make you fall in love, I would already have you up under my arm." Mike Posner sings the song above. What is the title?

Answer: Cooler Than Me

All the songs listed are singles by Posner, all from his debut album "31 Minutes to Takeoff". The album was released in 2010, and his first single, "Cooler Than Me" was released in early 2010.
15. "Whenever I'm dressed cool my parents put up a fight." This is the first line of which of these Lady Gaga songs?

Answer: Hair

Lady Gaga released her album "Born This Way" in 2011. In just a few short months, she had released six singles from the album, most of which had huge success worldwide. Four of the singles reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

"Hair" was the first single of the album, released as her promotional single.
