"Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" is originally off Green Day's 1997 release "Nimrod". I'm embarrassed to admit I'd never even heard of Green Day until they released "American Idiot". Green Day formed in 1989.

Answer: London

I can't get enough of this song, the title track to the Clash's 1979 release "London Calling". The Clash formed in 1976 and were active for the next ten years until about 1986.

"New Year's Day" is a great song originally off of U2's 1983 album "War". U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, and lead singer Bono is an activist in campaigns for AIDS awareness and poverty in Africa.

I had never heard a song, or much of anything rather (except Beethoven's "Fur Elise"), that had my name in it, so of course, I had to listen. Now the Cure is one of my all-time favorite bands. "A Letter to Elise" is originally off the Cure's "Galore" album, released in 1997. The Cure is considered goth rock, and has had several different lineups throughout their years of performing.
5. 30 Seconds to Mars caught my attention with their music video "The Kill". I bought their CD, and found I also really enjoyed this track, "From ___________".

"From Yesterday" is originally off their 2006 release "A Beautiful Lie". 30 Seconds to Mars was formed in 1998 by Jared Leto and his brother Shannon.

She Wants Revenge's self-titled album was released in 2006. For the 2006 edition of "Nightmare Before Christmas" movie, She Wants Revenge scored "Kidnap the Sandy Claws".

The anthology was released in 1999. "Blitzkrieg Bop" was originally a track from the Ramones' self-titled album, released in 1976. The Ramones are often regarded as the first punk rock band.

The Killers are by far my favorite band. "This River is Wild" is originally off "Sam's Town", released in 2006, the follow-up to "Hot Fuss". Though the Killers are from Las Vegas, they became famous in the UK before they made it in the US. Their first hit single was "Somebody Told Me".
