Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Despite its large population, a huge windmill powers L.A. very efficiently according to Iron Maiden.

Answer: Powerslave

"POWERS LA VEry efficiently"

"Powerslave" (1984) was Iron Maiden's fifth studio album, but surprisingly, their first to feature the same band line up as a previous album. This line up of Bruce Dickinson, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Steve Harris and Nicko McBrain would go on to produce two more albums, before Smith left the band in 1990.
2. When choosing accompaniments for a tortilla, jalapenos and sour cream are standard in Steely Dan's restaurant.

Answer: Aja

"tortillA, JAlapenos and"

"Aja" (1977) from Steely Dan went top five in both USA and UK and also won a Grammy award. The album featured the hit singles "Peg" and "Deacon Blues" and in 2011 was added to the United States National Recording Registry, deemed by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically important".
3. I often think that Metallica have the loudest vocalist I have ever met. All I can remember is his booming voice.

Answer: Metallica

"ever MET ALL I CAn remember"

A number one album in Australia, UK, Germany, Canada, New Zealand and USA on the Billboard 200, Metallica's 1991 eponymous album was huge throughout the world and marked a massive shift from the thrash metal of previous releases. It also gave the band singles chart success with "Enter Sandman", "Nothing Else Matters" and "The Unforgiven" all being released from this album.
4. Many people like the Rolls Royce Phantom. My favourite model though, is the Silver Shadow, as owned by the drummer of The Who.

Answer: Tommy

"PhanTOM. MY favourite"

Concept album, "Tommy" (1969) about a deaf, dumb and blind kid who was a natural at pinball was quickly hailed as a rock masterpiece that certainly put The Who on the map. In 1975, "Tommy" was made into a film, starring the band as well as a host of stars including Tina Turner, Elton John, Oliver Reed and Jack Nicholson.
5. Pink Floyd never appeared on an album dressed in tartan. I'm also not known for wearing a kilt, although I once did.

Answer: Animals

"tartAN. I'M ALSo not"

"Animals" (1977), like its predecessors, "Dark Side Of The Moon" (1973) and "Wish You Were Here" (1975) was a massive hit throughout the world, and this success continued with the album that followed it, "The Wall" (1979). Although the band released no singles from "Animals" both "Sheep" and "Dogs" fast became fan favourites, often played at live shows.
6. I wear a ladies cap every time I listen to Journey as it holds my headphones on better.

Answer: Escape

"ladiES CAP Every time"

"Escape" from 1981 was Journey's most successful studio album by some way, hitting number one on the Billboard 200 in USA and providing the band with their first foray into the UK top 40. Singles released from the album, didn't fare too badly either with three Billboard Hot 100 top ten hits in USA and perennial high school graduation favourite, "Don't Stop Believin'" also hitting number six in UK charts.
7. When in my bedchamber, linen sheets are a poor substitute for Egyptian cotton according to Lou Reed.

Answer: Berlin

"bedchamBER, LINen sheets"

Lou Reed's 1973 concept album is not a comfortable listen, charting the doomed relationship of Caroline and Jim, through drug addiction, domestic violence and suicide but it remains a masterpiece, and for me, a highlight of Reed's career. The album featured a star studded backing cast as well, with Jack Bruce, Aynsley Dunbar, Steve Winwood and the great Tony Levin all appearing.
8. "I'm a gin expert but I can also work with brandy" said John Lennon's bartender.

Answer: Imagine

"I'M A GIN Expert"

"Imagine" from 1971 was Lennon's second solo album after the break up of The Beatles and cemented his reputation as a songwriting genius, with songs such as the title track, "Jealous Guy" and "Crippled Inside". The album also saw fellow former Beatle, George Harrison appear on several tracks including some incredible slide guitar playing on "Gimme Some Truth".
9. Although some men wear a bra, very few men look attractive in one, according to Marillion.

Answer: Brave

"wear a BRA, VEry few men"

"Brave" (1994) was the third Marillion album to feature Steve 'H' Hogarth on vocals after the departure of Fish and was a concept album inspired by a true story of a girl found by police wandering near the Severn bridge in 1988. She didn't answer any police questions, prompting theories she was deaf and dumb or perhaps didn't speak English or was suffering from amnesia. Once a national appeal was circulated, her parents recognised her and collected her from police custody, confirming to journalists that she was suffering from depression. Her name has never been made public.
10. The members of Fleetwood Mac have said, that although we like rum, our stage drink is usually water.

Answer: Rumours

"like RUM OUR Stage drink"

In 1977, was there anyone on the planet that didn't have a copy of this incredible album? "Rumours" topped the album charts in UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand as well as the Billboard 200 in USA. By 2018, this album had sold in excess of 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best selling albums ever and provided the band with a string of classic tracks, including, "Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "The Chain" and "Don't Stop".
