Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Another quiz starts with 'I felt the rush like a rolling ball of thunder'. The group please.

Answer: The Four Seasons

The lyrics come from The Four Seasons' 1976 hit 'December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)', which topped the charts in Britain and America. It was the groups fifth US #1, the most recent before this coming in 1964 with 'Rag Doll'. It was their only UK #1.
2. The Hollies have cropped up a few times in this series and they're back again with a song that begins; 'See the girl with cymbals on her fingers entering through the door'. But which song is it?

Answer: Stop Stop Stop

'Stop Stop Stop' reached #2 in the UK in 1966, and also got to #7 on Billboard.
3. This time I want you to name the singer of the lyrics 'Bring back the colour gone from my lips, kissing will make it better'.

Answer: Clodagh Rodgers

Clodagh who, you may be asking? This Irish lady had a #3 UK hit with 'Come Back And Shake Me' in 1969. Well at least I give you some variety!
4. The lyrics are 'What do you do when your love breaks up, do you fall apart like a buttercup'. So can you complete the title: 'Surround yourself with _________' ?

Answer: Sorrow

'Forget about tomorrow, surround yourself with sorrow' - Cilla Black was also at #3 in the UK charts in 1969 with that catchy number. After a highly successful singing career, Cilla moved into the world of television and presented long-running dating show 'Blind Date'.
5. And who sang the line 'I don't want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde'?

Answer: Desmond Dekker and the Aces

The lyrics come from that classic song 'Israelites', which reached #9 on Billboard in 1969 (I seem to like that year at the moment). In Britain it went all the way to #1, and also hit the top 10 when issued re-recorded in 1975. Georgie Fame (without the Blue Flames) had a UK #1 with 'The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde' in 1967.

He had only three UK top 10 entries but they all went to the top, the others were 'Yeh Yeh' and 'Get Away'.
6. This Manfred Mann hit from 1967 included the lyrics 'in a whirl see a girl with a smile in her eyes', and the title was 'Ha Ha Said the ______'?

Answer: Clown

How many of you put ringmaster? 'Ha Ha Said The Clown' got to #4 in the UK in 1967 but didn't make the US Top 40. The group did, however, have a US #1 in 1964 with 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy'.
7. 'Dances, romances, things of the night, sunshine and holidays, postcards to write' - lyrics from which song?

Answer: All Kinds of Everything

You might not thank me for reminding you of it - the song in question was 'All Kinds of Everything' a UK #1 and Eurovision winner for Dana in 1970.
8. Lyrics from a dance song here: 'Kick your feet up, swing your arms up too, move your head both ways like you see me do'. The title being 'Do the ?'

Answer: Freddie

'Do The Freddie' was a US hit for Freddie and the Dreamers in 1965, reaching #18. I've mentioned it before, but I thought it useful to restore some balance for our US quiz players, as the song didn't chart in the UK at all.
9. A big hit from 1966 included the lyrics 'I tell by the way you dress that you're so refined'. The hit was for whom?

Answer: The Troggs

The Troggs scored their only UK #1 with 'With A Girl Like You'. In America it charted at #29 on the flip of US #1 'Wild Thing'.
10. Finally for this quiz come the lyrics 'Just say the words and I'll be there, anywhere, with lots of loving to share'. The song was called?

Answer: Tell Me When

'Tell Me When' was the only UK Top Ten entry for Birmingham group The Applejacks, as it got to #7 on the charts in 1964. The group, led by Al Jackson, are not to be confused with the late 1950s American group of the same name, who were led by David Appell.

Another quiz completed. This one was perhaps more UK-orientated than the others, and also some mid to late Sixties in there. Even so, I hope you enjoyed the quiz and the information I provided. I try to give some variety in the lyrics, so I'll see what I can turn up for part five...
