Answer: Roger Daltrey

Daltrey founded 'The Detours' in 1962. Two years later they changed their name to 'The Who' and the rest is history. Daltrey had a short solo career in the early 1970's (whilst still with The Who) and starred in a few films, notably 'Tommy' and 'McVicar'.

The Kinks started life as 'The Ravens'. In my mind, Ray Davies was one of the best songwriters that the U.K ever produced.

Steve Marriot left the band in 1969 and formed 'Humble Pie'. Tragically, he was killed in a house fire.

Answer: Peter Frampton

The Herd had some moderate success in the U.K in the 1960's. Lead singer Peter Frampton enjoyed some solo success in the 1970's, notably with 'Show me the Way' which reached number ten in the U.K chart in 1976.

Dave Clark was the founder member and drummer, but NOT the lead singer. The DC5 were a part of the 'British Invasion' of 1964, but their success in America was short lived. When the DC5 split up, lead singer Mike Smith sunk without trace.

Steve Winwood was only 15 years old when he found fame with the 'Spencer Davis Group'. He left in 1967 to join 'Traffic' and later 'Blind Faith'. In the 1980's he had a fairly successful solo career.

Status Quo started on the long road to fame by playing live sets at the Butlin's holiday camp in Minehead, Somerset. Some would say it's all been downhill ever since!

Mott The Hoople reached number three in the U.K chart in 1972, with a cover version of David Bowie's 'All The Young Dudes'. Their lead singer was Ian Hunter.

Sorry Wales, I nearly forgot you! One of the U.K's finest bands (certainly the best Welsh one in my view). There's a bit of mystery surrounding this group, as founder member and songwriter Richey Edwards went missing in 1995, and hasn't been seen since.
