Slick Rick began his career as MC Ricky D's. He originally performed with Doug E. Fresh in the "Get Fresh Crew".

Slick Rick's rap career was cut short in 1990 when he was arrested for attempted murder. He spent 6 years in prison from 1990 to 1996.

Slick Rick, born Ricky Walters, was born in London to Jamaican parents. He has had recent legal woes, and has battled the Immigration and Naturalization Service's attempts to deport him.

As one of the first big name rappers in the 1980's, Slick Rick's style of music had brought him to the level of almost superstardom. This has been most noticeably been shown during his 2004 legal problems with the INS, as big name stars like Will Smith, Chris Rock, and Russell Simmons have all been appealing for his release.
