Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Grease' was the word for this artist, thanks to Barry Gibb.

Answer: Frankie Valli

One of my favorite m'ovie musicals! Robert Stigwood was one of the producers of 'Grease and also helped launch the career of the Bee Gees.
2. Which Andy Gibb song contained the following lyric: 'But dreams are made for those who really try'?

Answer: (Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away

Both this song and 'Why' were on Andy's second album, 'Shadow Dancing.' 'Fanny' is actually a Bee Gees song (from the 'Main Course' album). When this song was performed on the Bee Gees special 'One Night Only' I almost cried- it was so beautiful! (I know you don't care, but still)
3. Barry helped his little brother Andy out with this song, which contained the following lyric: 'There is not anything I would not do to ease your troubled mind'

Answer: After Dark

'After Dark' was Andy Gibb's third album. The Andy Gibb albums released after this one were greatest hits collections.
4. This song was written by all three Gibb brothers, featured one of them, and contained the following lyric: 'Eyes can see that we got a highway to the sky.' Match the correct singer to the song title.

Answer: Barbara Streisand, 'Guilty'

This was a duet between Barbara and Barry. Also, the Bee Gees sang it, without Barbara, on their 'One Night Only' special.
5. Which of the following was a Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton duet written by the Bee Gees?

Answer: Islands in the Stream

This song was later sampled by Pras for the song 'Ghetto Superstar' and was performed by the Bee Gees on the 'One Night Only' special.
6. This song was written by Barry and Robin and contained the lyric: 'I'll cry me a river that leads to your ocean.' Match the original singer to the song title.

Answer: Samantha Sang, 'Emotion'

The key phrase here was ORIGINAL singer. The song wasn't covered by Destiny's Child MANY years later! This song was a duet with Barry; I very recently found out that she chose to record this song instead of '(Our Love) Don't Throw it All Away' (which was, of course, sung by Andy Gibb). 'Don't Let it Happen Again' was the first song Barry wrote for her.
7. Who sang 'If I Can't Have You' on the 'Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack'?

Answer: Yvonne Elliman

This was the only song on the soundtrack with lead vocals by a woman (which I didn't even realize until I wrote this question so correct me if I'm wrong). It was later sampled by boy band LFO.
8. What Andy Gibb song contained the following lyric: '...It's a burning thing; it'll burn on forever if you feed me baby'?

Answer: Man on Fire

This song appeared on Andy's posthumous album 'Andy Gibb' and had been previously unreleased. Barry sings with Andy on this track. ('Eaten Alive' is a Diana Ross song.)
9. This song contained the lyric 'I have found a dream that must come true; every ounce of me must see it through' Match the correct singer to the song title.

Answer: Celine Dion, 'Immortality'

I love this song so much... The Bee Gees wrote this song for her album 'Let's Talk About Love.' She also sang this song with the Bee Gees on the 'One Night Only' special.
10. What Dionne Warwick song contained the following lyric: 'Suddenly everything I ever wanted has passed me by'?

Answer: Heartbreaker

'This world may end, not you and I' The rest of the choices were other songs on the 'Heartbreaker' album (all written by the Bee Gees).
11. Which of the following was an Andy Gibb and Olivia Newton-John duet, and included the following lyric: 'You're the heart of it all, you're the things I say and do'?

Answer: I Can't Help It

I LOVE THIS SONG! (YET again, I know you don't care) Both this song and 'Rest Your Love On Me' were duets with Olivia Newton-John, and all of these songs were on the 'After Dark' album.
12. Which of the following Kenny Rogers songs was also the name of the album that ALL of these songs appeared on?

Answer: Eyes that See in the Dark

I'm not the biggest Kenny Rogers fan, so I don't really have any little fact on him or on this song (FOR ONCE, yes yes I know).
13. Which of the following Andy Gibb songs was NOT written or co-written by a Bee Gee?

Answer: Flowing Rivers

'Flowing Rivers' is also the name of Andy's first album. 'I Just Want to be Your Everything' was one of Andy's first hit singles and was written by Barry, along with 'An Everlasting Love.' 'Shadow Dancing' was co-written by Andy and all of his brothers.
14. Which of the following songs appeared twice on the 'Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack' (one with the Bee Gees performing, the other with a different artist)?

Answer: More Than a Woman

The other group was Tavares. John Travolta danced to both versions of the song with his co-star Karen Lynn Gorney.
15. What Diana Ross song contained the following lyric: 'I will be your slave, anything you say; I don't ever wanna be eaten alive'?

Answer: Eaten Alive

This song was written by Barry and Maurice Gibb AND Michael Jackson for Diana Ross' album of the same name.
