Toby Keith, was born on July 8, 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to H. K. and Joan Covel. He has two sisters, Torrie and Tracy. All three of the Covel children loved music, but Toby was the shining star in the family. He would perform songs that he heard on the radio, and he had dreams of becoming a famous entertainer and making his father very proud.

Willie Nelson was born in Abbott, Texas on April 30, 1933, and was raised by his grandparents. As a small child working in his grandparents fields, he heard many different types of music, which one day he would incorporate into his own unique and individual style.

Nelson's first album simply titled "Willie," gave country music its first look at who and what Nelson was and would become. On July 19, 1994, Polydor Nashville Records released Keith's CD single "Who's That Man." In September of that same year, Keith's album entitled "Boomtown," was released. Some of the songs from that album include "Big or Truck," "Victoria's Secret," and "In Other Words." Included on "Boomtown," was his CD single hit "Who's That Man."

In 1972, Nelson's music career seemed to be on the downhill slide. To give his career a boost, he returned to Texas, where he eventually made his way to Austin's old Armadillo World Headquarters, where he befriended a group of rockers. In 1978, Willie's "Stardust" album was released and would spend almost a decade on the country music charts.

In the latter part of 1978, Nelson was offered and accepted the part of Wendell Hickson, in Director Sydney Pollack's box office smash "The Electric Horseman," which was released in 1979. The storyline of "The Electric Horseman" revolved around Sonny Steele (Robert Redford), a former rodeo star. As the plot unfolds, we find that Sonny is in Las Vegas to do a cereal commercial, while wearing a suit completely covered in lights. When Steele finds out that horse that is to be used in the commercial is going to be drugged, he takes off for parts unknown with the horse, so that its life can be spared.

The CD contains fourteen songs, half of which Nelson wrote in the mid 1960's.

On Septemeber 4, 1998, "Entertainment Weekly Magazine" Magazine said of Nelson's "Teatro" CD "For the first time in years, Willie sings and plays as if something depended on it. His Texas-rooted sound has always had a south-of-the-border tinge, which Lanois accentuates with TEATRO's bubbling percussion. Half the tunes are Nelson chestnuts, but so radically redone that they're virtually new songs." They also gave the CD a B+ rating.

On May 21, 2003, Toby Keith was honored to receive the coveted award of Entertainer of the Year at the 38th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. He performed live with Willie Nelson "Beer For My Horses." Keith was up against country superstars Alan Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, Brooks and Dunn, and Kenny Chesney.

On June 5, 2003, Toby Keith's duet with Willie Nelson, "Beer For My Horses" hit the number one spot on the Country Music Charts.
