Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which man "gets up at seven" and "goes to work at nine"?

Answer: Working Man

Moon Records owned by Rush released "Working Man". A DJ in Ohio heard this song and put it on air immediately. The radio station soon received calls from listeners who were wondering when the new Led Zeppelin album was coming out. Many thought Rush sounded very similar to Led Zeppelin, at the time.
2. Only this quite lonely man thinks "it's gonna be a long, long time"?

Answer: Rocket Man

Elton John and Bernie Taupin were responsible for this one. Taupin got the inspiration for the lyrics from a short story titled "Rocket Man". This same story also inspired a Pearls before Swine track "The Rocket Man".
3. "The world is at your command." Quite a large statement for this type of man.

Answer: Nowhere Man

In the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" movie, the Nowhere man is a scary bear-like creature with a type writer. There are just some things you can't gather solely from the lyrics.
4. In which song does the artist plead to this type of man, "take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you"?

Answer: Old Man

Although Neil Yong put this song out, James Taylor is the one playing the banjo on this track.
5. In which song does the narrator ask this man to, "make it nice, play it clean"?

Answer: Jazzman

This is Carole King's biggest hit after her album, "Tapestry". David Palmer wrote the lyrics and Tom Scott played the saxophone.
6. Which silent man is "keeping an eye on the holy land"?

Answer: Walking Man

This the title track of James Taylor's fifth studio album. Taylor made his first solo single with the Beatles' record company, Apple, which explains why Linda and Paul McCartney both lend their vocals (and Paul his bass) to this album.
7. In which song does the singer claim, "I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to"?

Answer: Mr. Tambourine Man

This is the only song Dylan ever wrote that reached number one on the U.S. and U.K. charts.
8. Which claims he can "make like a turtle and dive for your pearls in the sea"?

Answer: Sunshine Superman

Donovan was close friends with the Beatles. So close in fact that Donovan's producer told him not to show this song to Paul McCartney under any circumstances, or Paul might do something similar. Originally, this song was subtitled "For John and Paul" in response to the producer's warning.
9. Who "draws the crowd and plays so loud"?

Answer: The Guitar Man

Quite a simple song by Bread about a musician and the relationship with his fans. The crowd yelling at the end was taken from a Jim Morrison concert.
10. The old man sitting next to the Piano Man asks him "Son, can you play me a melody?"

Answer: False

The correct lyric is, "Son, can you play me a memory?"
Written by Billy Joel, "Piano Man" is the title track of his second album. "Piano Man" was written about Joel's piano work at the Executive Room; all of the characters were actually people he encountered there.
