Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is Israel's brother?

Answer: Esau

I Chronicles 1:34 "And Abraham begat Isaac. The sons of Isaac; Esau and Israel." Jacob is the same person as Israel, not his brother. Joseph was Israel's favorite son.
2. Why did Jabez's mother say she named him Jabez? (KJV)

Answer: "Because I bare him with sorrow."

I Chronicles 4:9 "And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, 'Because I bare him with sorrow'." Bruce Wilkinson wrote a book called "The Prayer of Jabez".

The King James Version gives the word the archaic spelling of "bare," the past tense of "to bear" (as in, to bear a child). In modern times we would probably spell this word "bore."
3. How many sons did Levi have?

Answer: 3

I Chronicles 6:1 "The sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari." Levi was the son of Jacob (AKA Israel) and Leah. Levi was involved with his other brothers at one time to sell their brother Joseph as a slave in Egypt.
4. Was Saul killed by his armourbearer?

Answer: No

I Chronicles 10:4 "Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it." Saul was the first king of Israel.
5. What was Jehoiada leader of?

Answer: Aaronites

I Chronicles 12:27 "And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred." Jehoida was married to Jehosheba. Together they saved the infant Jehoash.
6. What is God to be feared above, according to I Chronicles?

Answer: All other gods.

I Chronicles 16:25 "For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods." Psalms 48:1 and 145:3 also start with the words "Great is the Lord".
7. Who was Elhanan's father?

Answer: Jair

I Chronicles 20:5 "And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam." This was part of the war that led to the capture of Rabbah.
8. Who was Goliath's brother?

Answer: Lahmi

I Chronicles 20:5 ""And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam." Lahmi was around the year 1020 BC according to the Smith's Bible Dictionary.
9. What was unusual about Simri being the chief?

Answer: He was not first born.

I Chronicles 26:10 "Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief.)" Marari was the youngest son of Levi, who was one of Jacob's sons.
10. What is the last word in I Chronicles?

Answer: countries

I Chronicles 29:30 "With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries." I hope you enjoyed my First Chronicles quiz. Stay tuned for my Second Chronicles quiz.
