Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What did Abimelech use to kill his seventy brothers?

Answer: Stone

This account can be found in Judges 9:5. On one stone, Abimelech killed his seventy brothers, the sons of Jeru-Baal. But Jotham, the youngest son, escaped by hiding.
2. Where did Peter heal Aeneas?

Answer: Lydda

Peter healed Aeneas, who was a paralytic and had been bedridden for eight years. The people of Lydda and Sharon saw this "and turned to the Lord" (Acts 9:32-34).
3. Paul was greatly distressed because of which city that was fully given to idolatry?

Answer: Athens

Acts 17:16 of the New International Version tells us that Paul was greatly distressed in Athens, because the city was full of idols. Paul was accused of advocating foreign gods, because he was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection.
4. Who was told not to prophesy at Bethel?

Answer: Amos

Amaziah told Amos not to prophesy anymore at Bethel. "Get out you seer! Go back to the land of Judah. Earn your bread there and do your prophesying there. Don't prophesy anymore at Bethel, because this is the king's sanctuary and the temple of the kingdom." Amos 7:12-13 (New International Version).
5. What woman killed her grandchildren so she could rule Israel?

Answer: Athaliah

2 Kings 11:1-3 tells us that Athaliah proceeded to kill the whole royal family. But Jehosheba stole Joash away from among the royal princes, and hid him in the temple of the Lord while Athaliah ruled for six years.
6. Uriah the Hittite was killed while fighting against what people?

Answer: The Ammonites

This account can be found in 2 Samuel 12:9. David had Uriah the Hittite sent to the front line in battle with the Ammonites, so that he would die. This was a result of an affair between David and Uriah's wife Bathsheba.
7. To which tribe did the prophetess Anna, who saw the baby Jesus, belong?

Answer: Asher

"There was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty four. She never left the temple but worshipped night and day, fasting and praying." (Luke 2:36-37, New International Version).
8. What tribe of Israel took Micah's priest away from him with a better offer?

Answer: Dan

This account can be found in Judges 18:18-22. The Danites made Micah's priest a very attractive offer: to be the priest of a tribe and not of just one man.
9. Joshua gathered the tribes of Israel at Shechem to do what?

Answer: Make a covenant with God

Joshua told the Israelites to throw away their foreign Gods and yield their hearts to the Lord. The people responded, "We will serve the Lord our God and obey him". (Joshua 24:23-25, New International Version)
10. After the stoning of Stephen, the church was scattered. Where did Philip minister?

Answer: Samaria

"Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said." (Acts 8:5-6, New International Version)
