Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How will the mountains be when the Lord returns, according to Micah 1:4 (King James Version)?

Answer: molten

Micah 1:4 "And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place."

Molten rock is of course melted rock; another definition that was in the dictionary is to dissolve.
2. What bird is mentioned in Micah 1:16 (King James Version)?

Answer: eagle

Micah 1:16 "Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee."

Eagles are important creatures in the Bible as they are considered majestic. They can usually live 20-30 years, and every year the adult eagles will have two eaglets, of which usually only one survives to become an adult eagle. (information taken from Rev. Tim Gibson's "Big Picture" Bible website).
3. How is "this time" described in Micah 2:3 (King James Version)?

Answer: evil

Micah 2:3 "Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil."

God is angry with the people and has told them they will be punished.
4. What does he say he's full of in 3:8 (King James Version)?

Answer: power

Micah 3:8 "But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin."

Micah's name means "Who is like Yahweh?", according to Holman's Illustrated Pocket Dictionary.
5. What was Zion "built up" with according to the King James Version?

Answer: blood

Micah 3:10 "They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity."

This refers to the fighting and thus bloodshed in the history of Israel.
6. Verse 4:12 in the King James Version mentions sheaves. What are sheaves?

Answer: Harvest grains bound together in a bundle

Micah 4:12 says, "But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor."

There is a Christian song called "Bringing in the Sheaves." Often the lyrics are misunderstood and people think the song is "Bringing in the Sheep."
7. What two places are mentioned in Micah 5:6 (King James Version)?

Answer: Assyria and Nimrod

Micah 5:6 "And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders."

Assyria was located in Northern Mesopotamaia. The land of Nimrod refers to the land that King Nimrod ruled over.
8. Micah 6:4 (King James Version) mentions Miriam. Who was Miriam?

Answer: Moses' sister

Micah 6:4 "For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam."

Miriam was the one who helped keep Moses alive by sending him down the river so he would not be killed when the Pharoah was killing all the Hebrew baby boys.

Moses' wife was named Zipporah. His mother was Jochebed.
9. How long does Micah say God will stay angry?

Answer: not forever

Micah 7:18 "Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy."

This verse can be cross-referenced to a verse in the New Testament which says: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)
10. What is the last word of the King James translation of Micah?

Answer: old

Micah 7:20 "Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old."

I hope you enjoyed this quiz on Micah. The next quiz will be on the book of Nahum.
