Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I accidentally deleted my toolbar that had icons such as: print, print preview, and save. Do you know the name of this toolbar so I could get it back?

Answer: Standard

Microsoft gave the toolbar this name, however you could customize and create your own names for tool bars.
2. I just typed a ten page document, but I realized I used the word "she" instead of "he" throughout the whole document. What command could I use to quickly change my mistake?

Answer: Find and Replace

Under the "Edit" menu, click "Replace".
3. I am trying to type a one page document, but I can't squeeze these last two sentences on this page. I have made my margins as wide as possible, but the sentences just won't fit. Which command could I use to make them fit?

Answer: Shrink to Fit

While in "Print Preview", click on the "Shrink To Fit" icon. Word will automatically decrease the font sizes and make everything fit on one page. It is easier to use this method so you don't have to manually decrease the font sizes by highlighting individual sections of the document.
4. In the "Font Size" menu, what is the highest font size listed?

Answer: 72

You can make the font size bigger by highlighting the font size on your toolbar, then type in the designated font size, such as 100.
5. I just realized that I want the first paragraph in my document to be the last paragraph instead. However, I don't feel like retyping it. What command could I use to move the paragraph?

Answer: Cut and Paste

Highlight the paragraph and click "cut". Place your cursor where you want the text, then click "paste". The Cut and Paste icons are on your standard toolbar.

If you use "copy" instead of "cut", you will end up with two copies of the paragraph -- one in its original location at the beginning, and one in the pasted location at the end.
6. I added something to my document, but I realized I don't want it anymore. I know I could click the "Undo" icon, but I can't remember which icon it is. Do you know the icon symbol?

Answer: Left Arrow

The right arrow is "Redo". You could either click the icon on your standard toolbar, or you could go to the "Edit" menu and click "Undo" or "Redo"
7. I want my ten page document to be numbered, but I don't want to do it manually. Which of these drop down menus gives me an option to automatically add page numbers to my document?

Answer: Insert

You could choose where you want the numbers to be placed on each page, and if you want the first page to be numbered.
8. I just inserted a picture of a woman into my document. There is too much border around the woman. What command could I use to erase part of the border?

Answer: Crop

After inserting a picture into your document, a "Picture Toolbar" will appear. Click the "Crop" icon on this toolbar, and cut out any parts of the picture you don't want.
9. I am typing a report for my class, using Word 2003, and my document must have at least 200 words. In which drop down menu could I find a command that will count the words in my document?

Answer: Tools

After clicking "Tools", click "Word Count". You will get a count of pages, words, characters, paragraphs, and lines.
10. I am searching for a Word 2000 document on my disk drive. All of my file names have different extensions because they were created in different programs. What extension would my Word 2000 documents have?

Answer: doc

Microsoft Word will automatically give your documents the right extension. Word 2007 and later editions introduced the docx extension.
